View Full Version : Jacked MP3s!!
ShadowPenguin September 3rd, 2004, 12:53 PM ya know, i really dont get this.
Okay i download music....i'm a friggin criminal....big god damn deal. Come get me.
but ya know what, i dont DL whole albums...i still do it the old fashinoned way...I BUY THE CD!! Mostly off Amazon for the prices or Best Buy. I like having cover art...the whole deal. (NOTE when I do the buy the CD and i wanna rip MP3's or download them, i paid my money i can rip 'em if I want to)
But when i hear a new song on the RADIO that i dig, i want it. I go download it only to find its COMPLETELY jacked! WTF! I can understand the companies wanting to put out bogus tracks off the album with interruptions or loud skreeching noises.
But when you jack a song thats ALREADY put out over the radio for EVERYONE to hear and to tape, that makes no effing sense to me.
If nothing else i would think the record company AND the band would want that single out there as clean as possible to encourage sales of the CD.
karatetricker September 3rd, 2004, 12:59 PM Yeah, downloading new music has become such a chore that I either buy the CD if I have heard enough to know I like some of the rest or just live without the song. It's nearly impossible to find a good version of any new song without a good amount of effort. This is at least with what I use. I know there's so many other ways, but it's not important enough to me to start trying out all the different software. Half of them are spyware loaded crap anyway.

try out LimeWire, pretty hassle free and most of my downloads have been distortion free. At least compared to the amount of bogus ones i got from Kazza Lite and BearShare.
i dropped Kazzaa Lite and all the other junk.
Hey you go to University of Deleware? My office is like 2 miles from campus.

Yeah, K-Lite is what I've been using for ages. It really sucks these days though. I may try LimeWire. If all else fails, I'll just get me an iTunes account and start throwing away tons of money. haha
Yes, I go to UDel. Senior year. Where do you work?

right off 896 on Ruthar Drive, so say you were walking down the main drag where all the shops are and stuff, down the one way street going the opposite way as traffic, about 2 miles down, past that BioPolymer plant, the second light past that is Ruthar Drive. Thats my DE office, i work mainly out of my PA office. i'll probably be down there a ton next week though.
kentnutrition September 3rd, 2004, 02:34 PM One think that you can do that is completely legal is to download a program called stationripper which lets you record songs off of internet radio stations. It even provides all the mp3 tags!
That sounds interesting. Have you used it with good results??

I don't believe it's nearly as well-known as Kazaa or some others, but WinMX (http://www.winmx.com) is what I use. I've never had a problem getting "new" songs like you guys are talking about.
