Ok, to cut a long story short, i have been eating around 800 cals per day for about 6-7 months, i have now started eating 1700 a day and i have gained a fair bit of weight.

I have been told that this was silly as i have gone from not many to loads from my point of view. What i should do is god to about 1200 and gradually build up, like weightlifters do, just gradually.

When i am going from 1200 upwards what is best, go from 1200 to say 1300 over the course of 1-2 weeks? ? ?

Adding perhaps another 100 cals as every 1 or 2 week passes.

Please help, i would more than appreciate this.

Thanks

Gaz.

Add 100 every week. I think your total weight gain was very low 8 lbs, right? Eat clean and exercise.

This is of course just my opinion, but I think taking 2 months to just get to 1600 is too long. His body is probably suffering. I'd try to be up to 1600 at least by the end of 4 weeks. Divide it up how you wish.

He is going from 1200 to 1600, 4 weeks. He seems to feel he has gained 8 lbs when he moved to 1700 in one step. I don't think he is counting calories closely or putting in time at exercise. At least he has moved off the 800 calorie diet. He was going to take it in steps, I gave him 4 weeks. Heck, do it in 2 weeks.

One of his last post, I told him he should be eating 2028 calories. He didn't buy that, it seems.

Hmm... I can't even understand his post actually. I don't get if he plans to start at 800 and work up or start at 1200. It looked like the 1200 was just a theoretical number to me in his example.

Anyway, this is like his 5th post with the exact same question, so perhaps he does refuse to listen? And the added weight if he actually did go up is probably just water, if anything. You don't gain 8 lbs. of fat so quickly. So depending where he's starting, I'd make 1600 calories the MINIMUM to be at within a month and work UP from there.

i do listen people and i am very very grateful of the responses that people make and it is pleasing when people do try and help me.

Basically, i have put on a lot of fat mainly around stomach and chest, i have been stupid to mess with my body like i have and im trying to get it back on track slowly.

I do take a lot of notice of what people say on this board, i just wish i knew this board existed when i had my operation because i could have got a better plan than starving myself with 800 calories per day.

Let me just say thank you for the help and support on the matter and i will try and post how i am getting on when i can see some evidence in say 1/2/3 months.

Many thanks again
