I'm proud of myself for sticking to a routine of diet and exercise for a little over a month, but whenever I see my disgusting fat, it really messes with my focus.

Today I was at the gym lifting weights and of course they have mirrors everywhere. I was sitting down blasting my biceps into submission when I look up and see fat bulging out at my waist. Totally threw me off and discouraged me for the rest of the workout...but I did finish, etc.

Aside from not looking at the mirrors, does anyone have any good tips or has dealt with this type of thing?

I know intellectually that I will get where I want to be if I keep doing what I am doing, and I guess I want overnight results, but my self disgust is messing with me!

why not LOOK at yourself in the mirror and use your negativity as motivation? watch yourself while you work out. as you watch the fat come off you will be MORE motivated.

you're right, alot of us want instant results, but it doesnt happen that way and i always found that my 'disgust' with myself kept me motivated more than discouraged me when i set myself in the right frame of mind HTH

This happens to me a lot. I just end up saying to myself "well the fat sure as hell isn't going to go away by itself!" I know it doesn't help, but the "no other option" route seems to work for getting me refocused. It sure isn't going to go away by itself, and I know I sure as heck don't want to feel the way I do/have for another second longer!

That is what I do. If I'm working out and notice my shirt has ridden up or something else that points out my flab, I get pissed. It makes me want to work out harder.
