By killing you, do you mean lagging and pissing you off, or thriving in pain? What do you currently do for your back, and do you do it on its own day?

I must have missed an earlier post or something. It is fine to do back extensions on ab day. But why have you tried many different bact workouts, do you have pain/injury? Are back extensions the only back exercise you do? What kind of split are you doing?

for some reason my lower back just kills me. i dont have a lower back injury, but i do have a neck injury however i dont think that would affect the lower back. i only do the back extensions right now because they are the only thing i've tried that didnt absolutely kill my back for days. (only hurts for a day or two afterwards) im still struggling with all these things im learning and im not sure i am doing everything properly......maybe its time to hire a trainer or something *sigh*

I would really recommend seeing a professional (doctor, fitness instructor, good chiropractor) if this is really a problem. I have had lower back problems since I was 14 and thought ‘I’ll start working out my back’ when I started lifting. This was a mistake that was fortunately remedied by going to a good chiropractor. He did almost no adjustments, but he took x-rays, explained the problem and suggested exercises to help. What this really did was enable me to be educated about what exercises I should and shouldn’t do. As an example, it turned out my back was actually quite strong and working it was only going to make the problem worse, especially the exercises I had chosen. I now work my core strength and have improved my posture and it has helped tremendously.

Of course I could just say ‘increase code strength’, but chances are whatever you problem is, it is different from mine and probably many others. It may just be technique, or it could be a host of other things. The problem is that backs can get bad in a hurry and you may never completely heal if you don’t sort it out early. Also, you could make it much worse in a hurry if you take bad advice, that might work for one person who has a completely different issue. I don’t see why it can’t be related to your neck.
