I've never done pilates, but I'm curious about this same question but in reference to two classes that I like to do -- "Fitness Yoga", and "Cardio Kick".

I love the Fitness Yoga class -- I have not done traditional yoga, but this class balances strength conditioning with the stretching and relaxation elements of yoga. I find I get a great core workout with the class, and if I haven't done it in a while, I can get a complete body workout, as I will have DOMS on almost all muscle groups the next day!

The Cardio Kick class is most similar to "Tae Bo" I suppose. It's a great cardio workout, that involves a lot of shadow boxing type moves, kicking, and pushups, as well as a great ab workout at the end of the class.

I enjoy both classes, and for that reason alone I would like to incorporate them in my workouts. Cardio Kick for the cardio, and the yoga for the general overall effect on my mind and body.

However, I worry that the strength aspects of both classes may interfere with my overall training (3-4 weight training days per week). If I do chest/triceps one day, then do a cardio kick class, will the punching/pushups negatively affect my recovery? Any input?
