Anyone have one of these Schwinn air-resistance bikes? I'm thinking of buying an older used model, but I'm having trouble finding information other than the usual marketing mumbo-jumbo.

Does the air resistance stay smooth when you start working really hard? I'd like to be able to do HIIT with this bike, if possible.

Do you have to worry about the moving arms hitting your knees?

Is it difficult to ride this bike without using the arm devices? There doesn't appear to be anywhere to rest your arms otherwise.

If anyone can volunteer any more information about this bike, positive or negative, please do. Thanks :)

------yes it does. HIIT great on this bike--------------

------No, unless you are 8 feet tall, and I think you could adjust the seat to handle it.----------------

-------Why wouldn't you want to use the arms, it gives an even better workout?-----------

Have one. Used it for many years everyday. One of the best cardio workouts you can get. Easy to do HIIT. Seems less boring than normal stationary bikes or recumbents. I stopped using it because of a bad back,(it is sitting covered in my basement gym) and started using a recumbent and finally settled on an elliptical. They require no maintenance, are very smooth and comfortable. An equipment dealer I once spoke with said that it was the easiet of all the machines to sell because it worked so damn good and never broke down. I highly recommend it.

Anywhere from 150 to 300 depending on condition. If you pay 300 it should be good as new. There isn't a lot that can go wrong with them. Nothing to wear out and they are easy to adjust and lubricate. Check ebay for prices.

Try for one of the NordicTrack ski machines. They are also a great workout and very inexpensive.

Thanks for the heads up, AWD. $275 is a bit out of my price range unfortunately :/

I've heard those can be tough on the lower back if not used properly.

I think I'm just going to look for an inexpensive stepper in the meantime. A friend loaned me her mini-stepper and I'm absolutely in love with it. I got my HR up to 80% of max for the first time using this thing. It's an awesome workout.

My wife has been using one every morning for the last twelve years, without any complaints. I just picked up a replacement for her original one on ebay for $80 and that included shipping. I don't personally care for it, but they are great cardio machines. Any peice of equipment can hurt your body if not properly used. There is not much to learn in using the skier. It was harder for me to get used to the elliptical, but now you can't get me off it. (the elliptical). If you have a NordicTrack store around, go try one and if you like it go to ebay and bid. I was just amazed at how many are auctioned there for such a low price. I think it is too hard for most people as it is a real sweat producer.
