I may have created it, but you--the members--made it what it is today.
I salute you. :)
smuhhh March 6th, 2008, 10:12 AM Thanks John, and I really liked the story on the front page today. I have been going through similar situations for the last few years with drugs and alcohol. Im at a point now where I only have a few drinks a week as well as smoke, but would like to, and know I will, quit both soon.
Shamie March 6th, 2008, 10:34 AM John,
Your news update was very inspring today. Sometimes you feel like your life is going to go on the same trajectory, that change is impossible. You give a good example that change is possible. Not just in fitness, but in other areas of your life. Congratulations on 5 years.

KittyKat March 6th, 2008, 11:17 AM John, when I read your awesome change in lifestyle I can't help thinking about Lisa. It seems that she got married to a completely different person than you are now - it must have been an overjoying and yet strange experience for her!
thanks for your inspiring post!

John,
Your news update was very inspring today. Sometimes you feel like your life is going to go on the same trajectory, that change is impossible. You give a good example that change is possible. Not just in fitness, but in other areas of your life. Congratulations on 5 years.I know I felt powerless for a long time. I credit fitness with giving me the confidence I needed to start believing in myself again. Once I starting feeling good about myself, change not only seemed possible, it seemed inevitable.
agreed - today was one for the archives, mr. stone. :dance:Thanks, Choppie. :)
John, when I read your awesome change in lifestyle I can't help thinking about Lisa. It seems that she got married to a completely different person than you are now - it must have been an overjoying and yet strange experience for her!
Lisa and I started dating in 1989. I was only 20 years old at the time, and we were both "recreational" drug users (well, I was a daily smoker even then so I guess Lisa was a recreational user). When Lisa and I married in 1994, she'd stopped using drugs completely, but I was becoming more and more dependent on them. Over the next 8 or 9 years I really only cared about getting stoned, drinking and sitting around the house.
I'm still amazed Lisa stuck with me through all that. I guess she saw something in me that I couldn't even see and just latched her hopes onto that. She says I didn't disappoint her, and that makes me feel good. :)
