Hi guys and girls,

Just wanted to put forward my biggest problem and see if anyone else has the same problem and how to overcome it.

Because I am dedicated to my training, I am very passionate about it. The way I like to train is weights early morning, and cardio in the evenings, because I'm only about 3 months away from summer and because of the fact I want to play representative cricket, I'm doing it 5 times a week (different weights on different days of course). My cardio workouts consist of 15 minutes high intensity on the treadmill, and 15 minutes on the stepper, in which I burn off about 400-450 calories.

Now heres the problem, because its getting hotter in the nights, I cant sleep at all, I have an extremley high body temprature and I get very uncomfortable. I also get extremley frustrated because I worry that if I dont get the right amount of sleep, I'll be burned out for the next day. I've tried sleeping pills (had a reverse affect) and meditation and none of them did any good. This is going to be the deciding factor on wether I reach my potential. I'm also afraid that this will lead to overtraining and burn out. I need to fix this ASAP, any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

What time are you doing cardio? And about what time are you going to bed? If you have a high body temperature maybe you are doing your cardio too close to bed time. You should probably try doing your cardio earlier in the day if you can, see if that helps any. That will give your body time to cool down and you won't be as hot before you go to bed. Also, you can try taking a cold shower or bath before going to bed.

Kind of obvious but: Do you use thin sheets? Fans? A/C?

Keep the lights in your room off during the day, depending on what kind you have and their proximity to your bed and the size of your room they could be heating your room up further.

What colour is your room? You can try using cold blues on the walls and sheets, hook up those fans, put up posters of cold arctic pictures (icebergs and the such).

Many recommend warm milk (the warming of the milk does something to it) to help fall asleep.

before bed have some cottage cheese, peanuts, banana's or figs as they are good tryptophan sources which aids in sleep
