I wasnt sure where to put this but I think since it has to do with health Im putting it here. Havent beent to JSF in a few months (due to computer crashing and such) But Im back and looking for some support on this topic.
Tuesday I was at my doctors office and she confirmed suspicions that I was diabetic (type2). Later that day, I went to the endocrinologist and he said basically we can control it with meds. He upped the dosage of what my primary had me on. And now I have to do fingersticks 2x a day. Basically he said if I lose 25 lbs we can keep the meds at a very low dosage so I can keep the possibility of going on insulin very far away. Ive started walking every day (ugh) for about 40 minutes just to do something until I decide if im gonna go back to the gym or try to do a home routine.
My question is are there any diabetics here and how did you handle things when you were first diagnosed? My big problem is going to be fruit. I love it so much and its really helped me stop craving and eating sweets. I know im not supposed to eat too much of it. And now im going to have to actually start cooking (ACK!) hehehehe. I do have an appt to see a nutritionist so that should offer me alot of help.
I had lost 15 lbs in July but the doc said that was cuz my sugar was so high. And here I thought it was because I was eating healthier and drinking lots of water... Sigh....
