View Full Version : Stretching Technique?
daveo Fri, February 6th, 2004, 03:08 PM So I've seen loads of posts saying that stretching is nothing but goodness. Here's my problem: I only know how to stretch my lower body. Given my build, my hamstrings have always been an issue, so I know how to stretch those really well. I took karate for years and know how to stretch every single part of my legs/waist down like a pro!
The problem is up on top I haven't got a clue :(
I looked around for some stretching guides, but all I saw was "you need to stretch!" not "here's how to stretch muscle group x".
Any tips? I did some Lat Pull Downs ('http://www.ast-ss.com/training/exercises/back/lat_pull_downs.asp') yesterday and now they're killing me. I did some of the most basic stretches I could think of (anything that made them feel better) but I could use some tips, or a guide. All help appreciated!
somnific Fri, February 6th, 2004, 03:33 PM were you looking for a stretch routine, or particular stretches for individual muscles?
i know that ExRx (http://www.exrx.net/Lists/Directory.html) has stretches for particular muscles. if you click on the exercises for a particular muscle (the right column) you should also get a bunch of links that include different stretches.
hope that helps!

hope that helps! You know, that pisses me off. I have that link buried deep in my bookmarks and didn't look there. Ugh. I didn't even notice the stretching section for the muscles, there's soo much information!
Yes, that's exactly what I wanted, thank you! :tu:

That'd be pretty silly in your case though! Unless you're posting via an Iranian proxy... hmmm
Anyway, it's just some standard poorly drawn pictures of very broard ("shoulders", "back") stretches. The first link is more specific about which muscles you'll be stretching. It's also got some AWESOME diagrams about where each muscle is in your body, what it does, which joints it effects, etc. etc.

Yeah I wouldnt think Aus would have a high concentration of Al Qaeda Operatives needing stretching advice. :D Well I bloody hope not
