I'm to watch one tonight. I loved Bourne Identity (it was quite bad ass). Collateral was rated a bit better on rotten tomatoes, but that cab driver looks almost too damn goofy for the movie to be as good as people say.

My wife read BS and said that the book was rather confusing - is the movie? I know that the BI book was not really confusing (and she didn't think so), but is BS a bit messy at spots?

EDIT: Ooops, I screwed the poll. Sorry!

None of the Bourne movies line up with the books (not that I found any of them confusing) so that should not be an issue.

BS is a good movie but it lacks that tension from BI, the "Oh my god who the hell is this guy?" burning question the protagonist was dealing with. The movie follows the same motif, lots of Jap slapping, guns, car chases, etc. All tastefully done and well acted. I give it a 8.5/10.

In the end, I would see Collateral as I think BS is a better DVD purchase than to see in the theater but that is just my opinion.

No, Jamie Fox is not goofy in the movie, that guy is a great actor. And I think this is one of Tom Cruises best parts. In so many of his movies I never detach from the fact that it's Tom Cruise. In this movie, Tom Cruise WAS the character completely. Excellent movie.

That said, Borne Supremecy was excellent too. I think the edge goes to Collateral, though.

If you see the Bourne Supremacy, be forewarned that lots of folks have complained about the cinematography. Namely the shaky-cam effect anytime there's an action scene. I haven't seen it, but I hear it goes from normal to full on Blair Witch mode when there's action scenes. In spite of that, I hear it is still a damn fine movie.

I'm gonna try to see both sometime this weekend, but you really can't go wrong with either one of them...but I'd hit up Collateral first.

Bourne was a good action flick, but you sort of had a hard time connecting with any of the characters. And yes, the cinematography is shakey.

Collateral was an awesome movie. I normally don't care for Jamie Fox, but he was phenomenal in this flick. Cruise was awesome, and the story rocked. If I had to prioritize, it would definitely be Collateral first.

I'm reading Bourne Identity right now and the book is obviously way better than the movie! I highly recommend it. Its a trilogy of Robert Ludlum books: The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy, and The Bourne Ultimatum.

Also, I thought the Bourne Identity movie was pretty good and the sequel on par with the first. However, if anyones ever seen the ORIGINAL! Bourne Identity film with Richard Chamerlain you'd think Matt Damon was a wuss!! Although props to Matt for doin' his own stunts!

Didn't see Collateral, heard it was crap.

I don't know what you're talking about in terms of shaky action sequences in Supremacy....

Thanks for the ideas :) We ended up seeing bourne Supremacy. I think obectively going in I knew that collateral was better rated, and I do want to see it, but I was in the mood for something a little simpler tonight.

It was solid. Not quite as good as the first, but a good movie. The camera was shaky as HELL in two scenes in particular: The fight with the german agent - I mean you couldn't even see what was going on, and then the car chase later (not as shaky there though). I don't consider it subjective as to whether it was too shaky: it was too shaky.

That aside, a good movie. I think I may have to read the third.

I think I may have to read the third.

I would suggest reading hte first one if you've only seen the 2 movies...first off, Jason is being sought after by Carlos the assassin (who was a real person!) and they dont' show that in the movie at all. second, the whole like framing Jason Bourne w/ the finger print thing happens in the FIRST! book "The Bourne Identity" so I don't even know wtf the 2nd book has in store for me....

They couldn't use a lot of the plot from the books, they were written in the early 80s. Either they'd have to use a different time period or loosely base the movies off the books. They did the later.

I did read half of the first book, but got sidetracked. Maybe I should pick it up again - is the third worth the effort of reading through the first two? For what it's worth I'm a recently avowed Ludlum fan, The Janson Directive, being the first I read.

COMPLAINT: Anybody else notice this? In the trailer for BS, there is a scene where I think he's on the phone and Jason says something like "Back off or I'll bring this fight to you" - something along those lines. This was NOT in the movie.
