View Full Version : You guys missed a helluva riot
scorpiosnow August 23rd, 2004, 04:32 PM Wow. I mean, wow. This happens pretty much every year before school starts here in Fort Collins, but this year it went above and beyond. 2 straight nights of rioting (http://www.9news.com/acm_news.aspx?OSGNAME=KUSA&IKOBJECTID=873a7236-0abe-421a-0124-3db521e5d6c6&TEMPLATEID=0c76dce6-ac1f-02d8-0047-c589c01ca7bf)
One of my roommates finally came home at 3 PM on Sunday, the other at 6 PM.
Good times at Colorado State. Good times. I'l try to post some pics when I get home from work.
Skoorb August 23rd, 2004, 05:09 PM Maybe it's good I'm not a cop, because if I was I'd have put myself on the megaphone and given people one chance to disperse, after which I'd order all my men to go hog wild with the rubber bullets, tear gas, and arrest as many as I could. That is totally unacceptable behaviour.
Follow that plan and we'll see if there is rioting every year :)
TheRyanator August 23rd, 2004, 05:36 PM I am not far out from college-age, not even two years. My friends and I always had good times...but that is ridiculous!! I am with Skoorb, anyone who participated in that crap deserves to be caned...seriously. What a stupid way to kick off the school year...trash other peoples property. It just goes to show the type of people our country's parents are raising and the type of people our country's universities are putting out. America's youth (not all of them) need to grow up. I dont think that will start happening until they start recieving consequences for their actions, instead of having their actions justified by the newest psychiatric condition and allowing those actions to continue. I am 23 and party it up and have a great time with all my buds, but never at someone else's expense!
-END OF RANT-
Knubb August 23rd, 2004, 06:10 PM Good times at Colorado State. Good times. I'l try to post some pics when I get home from work.
Does that mean that you'd love for some kids to bust your car when you have grown up? Wow. That's so generous of you.
scorpiosnow August 23rd, 2004, 06:24 PM Okay, maybe I should clarify. Good times is something some us of us kids say when we actually mean "not good times"(!). confusing I know.
/slang lesson
Chris_Otto August 23rd, 2004, 06:24 PM If I lived in Ft. Collins, I'd be in jail, but at least there'd be some dead hoodlums in my front yard.
scorpiosnow August 23rd, 2004, 06:28 PM And anyway, it was only a select few people who were destroying property. Everyone else was just having fun. You have to understand that this whole street is one giant party every year on this particular weekend, but the cops couldn't distinguish the just-drunk people from the drunk-and-malicious people, so they teargassed everybody.

"Only a select few people"...guilt by association comes to mind. If people dont want to be confused with hoodlums then dont hang around with them, it is not the cops fault they tear-gassed everyone. What are they supposed to do ask the hoodlums to gather round and them gas them in the face from two feet away so they dont get the "innocent victims?!"

If I was a cop I'd want to have a gas gun in each hand so that I could double up on anybody within range. The cops can't possibly pick a few bad apples out of a crowd, so that crowd should have the brains to remove themselves from the situation.
ThatOldGuy August 24th, 2004, 02:05 PM ... This happens pretty much every year before school starts here in Fort Collins...
One can only hope that the school administration will make sure that nothing remotely similar to this ever happens again. What's up with the universities in Colorado? It seems like they all have behavior problems.
Fly_Moe August 24th, 2004, 02:51 PM I have a buddy of mine who's a cop and he was telling me that in situations where it looks like a riot can break out at any time, the first person who throws something or bad mouths the cops gets arrested. Everyone who sees that will be like "Holy Sh!t, the cops are serious!". End of riot! Of course that doesn't pertain to every situation, but what the hell are the cops doing in CO if this happens every year? They should be more prepared, if they aren't already. Also, they should film the students doing damage with a video camera and throw their asses out of school. The school needs to take a more proactive approach to end this type of violence.
ultimatesooner August 24th, 2004, 03:37 PM I hope you guys kick CU's a$$ next Saturday. That game is usually good from some type of drama
scorpiosnow August 24th, 2004, 03:53 PM Okay, laf, I apologize to all of the old and/or foreign people who seem to think I'm some kind of looter. In the future, I will be much more careful about posting interesting things. I hope someday you all get your chance to dust off some shotgun shells at teenagers.
Cheers.

I love it when people make outrageous (stupid) claims because they know they will never get the chance to back it up.
