I don't have 7, but I've worked with various version of PS over 10 years, and it's always been pretty similar, so try this:

At the top of the window, pull down the 'Image' menu. Click on 'Image Size'. From there, you can scale it down (it should automatically adjust the width when you change the height, and vice versa). Make sure that the resolution (the number of pixels per inch, or ppi as it's called) is set to 72, which is web standard.

I hope that helps :d_tongue:

I dunno if you're Mac or Windows but I'm on a Mac and found that saving JPEGs with the "Save for Web" option in the File menu makes much smaller files than just doing "Save As..." because PS writes a preview icon if you do it the latter way, at least on a Mac. Dunno if it does that on Windows. in some cases the previews were bigger than the raw JPEG for small files.

yeah...use Save for web...

Resize your pic to 400-640px wide, Save for web and choose medium to high quality. I try to stay below 50K per pic.

This may not be of any help to you. If you would rather have Windows XP (if you have XP) resize your images, just go here and download the image resizer from the Microsoft PowerToys.

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx

Download and install. Now go to any picture, right-click, and there you have it. "Resize Pictures". Select this feature and use the automatic sizes, or use the advanced feature to make the picture any size you want. It will make a copy of your picture newly resized, or it can resize the original.

This is very easy compared to opening Photoshop everytime you want a simple resizing. There are several other PowerToys on that website that are very helpful as well.

another easy way to do it is to go to Image--> Resize
You can adjust the size & resolution. if its just for screen viewing, put it to 72dpi
