I've noticed since I started working out for the last few months my Libido has decreased and it's starting to bother me a bit. Could it be that I'm tiring out my body from 6 days of working out (weights 3 days and 3 days cardio/abs)? Or perhaps some supplements cause that? I've noticed i'm tired a lot in the evenings too usually after my workouts. I figured working out would spike the testosterone, any ideas on what this might be? 27 y/o male seeking advice.

Cant say I've had that problem...I'm as horny as ever :p

Do you get enough sleep? Enough food? Your mental stage can have a lot to say too. Depending on how you work out, it "should" increase testosterone production...

I don't know your "work out capacity", but I'm working out with weights 5 days a week, bike for 30 mins each day as well as 1-2 hour intense biking a week, and I feel great. Surely, after 2 months non stop programme, I feel that Im pushing my body, so my vacation helped a lot.

Is it a long time since you had a break? If it's more than 2 months, I'd suggest take 1-2 weeks off and eat on maintainace to recover 100%.

I'm 29 btw.

Since really getting serious, applying high intensity style training (I'm doing MAXOT now), libido as well as performance have increased incredibly for me. A while ago I took a few weeks off, and I actually noticed a decrease in this department. It could be all in my head though (the one on my neck!!), as I kinda get freaked out and depressed if I go more than a week without training. So I could have just felt like a fatass and not wanted to get naked in front of my girl. :)

Generally I've read and learned that getting in shape is extremely beneficial, physically and phycologically (sp?), to your sex life. So this post kinda goes against what I've thought...

Could be that you're just tired, maybe overtraining? What type of workouts do you do? Are those 3 days like crazy 2-3 hour training sessions? Are you eating clean?

Be sure you're getting enough rest.

Be sure you're taking in enough calories to support your level of activity.

Be sure you're eating adequate amounts of fat, especially saturated fat. (I know... not something you're accustomed to reading on a health/fitness forum!)

I experienced similar symptoms at the age of 38-39, when I was eating a lowfat diet, working out regularly, and was in otherwise excellent shape/health.

Since increasing protein and saturated fat intake, and virtually eliminating refined sugar and white flour from my diet, these symptoms have disappeared, HDL levels have increased (63), LDL levels are well within the "safe" range (67), and triglycerides have dropped to 45.

Energy levels are more stable throughout the day, and libido has returned to normal. Additionally, my immune system seems much more resistant to "run-of-the-mill" colds and other "bugs," and a problem with dry skin (especially in winter) has all but disappeared.

Keep us posted on how you're doing with this...

Good luck.

Here's a short article I found that may provide some additional insight:

Yeah, I'm guessing not enough sleep and/or not enough food in your diet.

Are you on a low-carb diet?? I had some problems with feeling down and depressed after long runs, which were corrected by making sure I ate or drank something "carby" after running.

You may be cutting too many calories. I noticed that when I started to consume too few calories that my energy went along with them.

I weigh 172lbs and was consuming about 1550 calories a day. This was way too low for my activity level. Not only did I have no desire but I was starting to get depressed. I'm now at about 1800 to 2000 a day and my energy has returned amoung other things. ;)
