View Full Version : Urination frequency?
TrevorNetwork August 20th, 2004, 09:41 PM Hi All,
I am new here, and have been reading many of the posts within the forums. Anyway, one question that's been cropping up in my head is regarding urination frequency. Many of you claim to drink three or more litres of water a day. For my own interest I drank about two litres yesterday, and I was in the bathroom every forty-five minutes. What's the big secret here? :)
PetriJR August 21st, 2004, 06:24 AM Yep, 45min or so is the pace with me too... No secret there... When you got to go, you got to go... ;)
taffer August 21st, 2004, 06:39 AM i'd say i go every hour or 2, i always gotta get up once or twice at night time to goto the toilet too :(
1FastGTX August 21st, 2004, 07:52 AM When I first started really paying attention to water intake and drinking more of it, I was going to the bathroom easily every 20-30 minutes. I don't know why though, but after a few weeks I somehow was not going as often. I still go way more than the average person who doesn't drink a lot of water, but not as often as in the beginning. Not sure why or how this is possible, but that's what happened.
billysbrew August 21st, 2004, 10:33 AM I go every 45 mins, if not I about burst (bad pains).
murph3699 August 21st, 2004, 12:05 PM I drink around 96 oz. while at work and I'm in the bathroom more than I'm at my desk it seems. Every 45 min sounds about right to me.
dledeaux August 21st, 2004, 04:09 PM When I first started drinking a lot of water it was worse for me in the beginning too. I think the body begins to adapt to the amount of water and possibly the bladder exands a little too.
hrlykid August 22nd, 2004, 02:12 PM Is that bad for you to always be going?? I have to also always go to the restroom.. sometimes or all the time my urine sometimes sqeezes out when i laugh or try to bend over, also my lower belly sticks out.. can someone help me out?? im confused... i want that lower part to go down or flat should i say...
ABguy August 22nd, 2004, 02:46 PM yup every 45-60 min sounds 'bout right.
About 2-3 times during the night, too, which is a drag.

I think this sounds serious and maybe you should go to the doctor... I could be wrong or just being paranoid, but it just sounds bad to me and you're better safe than sorry. :)

Same thing here. At first I had to go very frequently. After a while the frequency decreased. I do still go at least 4-6 times a day at work though.
jesse1 August 22nd, 2004, 06:46 PM Diuresis
Diuresis is the increased secretion of urine by the kidneys. This normally follows the drinking of more fluid than the body requires, but it can be stimulated by the administration of a drug called diuretic or by the fluid shift which occurs in microgravity.
TheLemonSong August 23rd, 2004, 01:01 AM In the 15 hours I'm awake I drink close to 3 gallons of water. In addition I have 1 16oz diet rite with dinner, and 2-4 large coffees (1 before workout, 1 with breakfast, 1 before lifting). If you add all of that up I'm sure thats around 3.5gallons of liquids bare minimum...
As you might expect, I urinate at least once every waking hour and usually in the middle of the night (I have about 12oz of water just before goign to sleep usually to keep me feeling full). So thats what? 15+ piss breaks per day? Anyone going to try to top me on that one? I swear if I were Larry David and I sat while I pissed I could read an entire magazine or newspaper during the day (anyone catch the Curb reference??)....
chicanerous August 23rd, 2004, 01:42 AM I usually drink about a gallon or a gallon or half everday during the school year. Most of it is concentrated in the afternoon and the evening, so I'm getting up to pee all the time during class.
It's not unusual for me to have to go every 10-15 minutes when I'm really sucking the water down (like a bottle of water every 10-15 minutes).
The faster I drink it, the more frequently I have to use the restroom.
Taxcheat August 23rd, 2004, 10:39 PM When drinking normally, I can last a whole day without draining the lizard other than in the morning and at night. It's a genetic thing that I inherited -- never need to visit public restrooms, ever.
Unfortunately, drinking much extra water on the new workout/eating plan means 1-3 extra trips during the day.

In addition to the benefits of drinking enough water, you burn at least 50 more calories
nate1 August 24th, 2004, 11:41 PM when drinkin that much...don't wander too far from home
