View Full Version : Any Woodworkers out there...?
ABguy August 19th, 2004, 09:26 PM Wondering if anyone out there does any type of woodworking.
I got hooked about 3 years ago. I've got a bad "new tools" habit that
I just can't shake.
I'm all about getting it done in a weekend. As a result, my pieces sometimes lack that " fine furniture" look.
This is my most serious work. I actually took the time to do it right this time. Took about 2 months of weekends.
First few are pics along the way.....
The last two are a near final product. Waiting for some hinges to be delivered. The front doors open, and then slide back to reveal a 40"
TV.
billysbrew August 19th, 2004, 11:25 PM Very nice, very nice indeed! :tu: My grandfather has done woodwork since he retired around 15 years ago. It keeps him active and keeps the cash coming in. Nice to know that you can fall back on another trade if the need should arise!
Duckman August 20th, 2004, 03:07 AM That's pretty sweet! :tu: I've done a fair share of woodwork...I'll take a few pics soon
PetriJR August 20th, 2004, 04:21 AM Respect man!!!
Looks very professional stuff you got there.
fujo August 20th, 2004, 07:22 AM Very Nice! I dabble a bit - I like to make my stuff look more primative. I like to build from reclaimed wood and keep it rough.

Great. If the quality of your woodworking is half that of your drawing, it should be awesome.

I've done some of that too. My wife leans more toward the rustic look.
Yeah, with the price of lumber the way it is, I'm always garbage pickin'...
I'll take an ol' dresser just to break it down, run it through the planer, and let it live again.. :D
Jacko August 20th, 2004, 01:32 PM Very Nice AbGuy. I too am hooked on new tools! I'm not quite in your league though, but I do enjoy getting into the workshop when I have the time. Most of my projects lately have been of the outdoor kind (a new cedar deck and some yard furniture).

I'd quit my day job in a second, to get paid to do this. Problem is, I've got to find a way to either mass produce or streamline operations.
Otherwise, your net ends up being $5 / hr :p
kmfisher August 20th, 2004, 04:04 PM Those are awesome! How much do they cost? Woodworking looks awesome and fun, but also looks like something I could never do.
Duckman August 20th, 2004, 06:57 PM Here's something I started building when I was 17...and will probably finish when I'm retired
Made everything from scratch inclucing planning and the construction, drawings etc. There's not one single screw or nail...only bamboo and mahogany nails.
Perfectionist? Me?? Nooooo....
