I finally got my pics uploaded, so here for your viewing pleasure is a photo spread of my own personal dungeon (aka "Power Fitness," my basement, etc.)

http://www.clancrescendo.com/forums/html/brett/latbench.jpg
This is the first thing you see when you come down the stairs and turn the corner. On the left is my chin/dip station and dead ahead is the bench I use for benchpress (db and bb), abs, and leg curls.

http://www.clancrescendo.com/forums/html/brett/latcalf.jpg
Turning to the left, you see the dip/chin station to the left of my seated calf raise station (both from TDS, which makes quality equipment). That poster is of Marilyn Manson and is about 7-8 years old. The gym was converted from my hangout and somehow that poster stuck around. I find it rather ironic, so I let it stay.

A closer shot of my bench, which is made by Brutus. My dumbbells are lined up off to the left. On the right is a "junk" bench, which we will see more of...now:

http://www.clancrescendo.com/forums/html/brett/benchracktv.jpg
There's the junk bench. I don't use it for lifting, but I keep my dumbbell plates on the leg attachment. Also, my TV is there which almost exclusively is tuned to ESPN whenever I have it on when I lift/run.

http://www.clancrescendo.com/forums/html/brett/dumbbells.jpg
All of my dumbbells line up fairly neatly. I've got hex dumbbells from 10-55lbs. in increments of 5lbs. I've also got my adjustable DB bars. You can also see my tricep bar in the back right of the shot; I don't use it anymore, which is why you can see those plastic weights on them just for the sake of storage.

http://www.clancrescendo.com/forums/html/brett/treadlat.jpg
A shot of my treadmill and my lat tower. I set the treadmill down right on the threshold of the lat tower, which works well and saves space. On the base of the treadmill are my EZ curl bar (which I only use for skull crushers at the moment) and my Olympic bar, respectively. In the background you can see the bench I use for seated shoulder presses and my absolutely ancient stationary bike.

http://www.clancrescendo.com/forums/html/brett/lat.jpg
A closer look of my lat tower, made by Rock Fitness. As you can see, I'm limited on plate tree space, so I set the 45's up against the lat tower support (which is very stable). There's also a 35lb. plate up against the wall with some attachments for the bench (shown on the left).

http://www.clancrescendo.com/forums/html/brett/treadmill.jpg
A close shot of my treadmill in the up position. My stereo is to the left of the treadmill (there's another stereo behind it which is mostly broken). I use that chair to sit on when I'm resting between sets and, as you can see, keep my clipboard on (which has my lifting results on it).

http://www.clancrescendo.com/forums/html/brett/treadlatdb.jpg
An alternate angle that shows most of my gym. Not a lot of explanation needed. I use that towel on the floor there as cushioning for my knees when I do cable crunches.

http://www.clancrescendo.com/forums/html/brett/bikebench.jpg
A close shot of my stationary bike and the bench that came with my lat tower. The bike has no padding on the seat and it moves quite a bit, particularly when I do HIIT on the thing. I need a new one, but for now it works alright.

And that's where I train. I'm planning on adding a power rack and that will probably be it due to my limited space. If my treadmill breaks (which seems to be coming up shortly) I'll replace it with an elliptical. Other than that, this is where all the "magic" happens. It beats the hell out of driving 30 minutes to golds to watch the kids with spaghetti arms do curls in the squat rack. ;)

great example of what can be done with very little space :)

i'm going to need to do some similar magic soon, kinda limited with just my bike and free weights.

Holy crap, man. Nice set-up. You ought to start selling memberships. Your equipment is better than at some of the gyms I've been at. Well, okay, not including the exercycle. :D

I do plan to open a gym somewhere down the road. I've had my friends train down there, including one friend who trained w/me every day a couple years back (before leaving for the newly constructed gold's that I previously mentioned...). Of course, I didn't have as good of equipment back then, but hey...

And yeah, that bike is pretty terrible. It's the best way to keep me motivated for running on the treadmill for 45 minutes instead of doing HIIT on that thing. Of course, it's a great workout for your glutes, what with all the padding the seat doesn't have...although the one great advantage of that particular bike is that it is very light (hence it moves a lot during HIIT). At least I can move it to wherever I want and move it back out of the way easily.

I don't know why, but I really love looking at other people's home gym pictures. :)

Excellent setup man, I like it a lot. You've got a good mix of equipment there, and have made excellent use of the space. Thanks for posting!

I agree, I also love to look at pictures of others homegyms. Gives me ideas. Great setup.

I also like looking at other people's set-ups. I've looked at John's probably close to 100 times. I guess I expect something new to pop up while I was out.

Anywho, I'll keep you all up to date if/when I make any more purchases. I've gotta decide where some stuff needs to move to in order to fit one or two more things in. Until then, by all means feel free to shower me with praise for my AMAZING set up (yes folks, that was me joking--I'm not that arrogant).;)

I like your set-up, and I have to say I am a little jealous. I don't have a whole bunch of room to put all the stuff I'd like to get, but I guess that could make me more efficient with what I have.

Right now, all I use is my stationary bike, but once things get caught up better financially for me, I'm looking at getting a weight bench and a good set of weights...plus, I need to expand my dumbbell collection a little (right now I have a set of 15 and 20 pounders, which work, but not to the length I'm gonna need them).

Anyway - I just wanted to give you props on the setup...keep the updates coming if you get anything new!

Just remember, nibrudt, that my set-up isn't exactly efficient. The bench I have (the one I use for benchpress and all) is something I got back in high school before I really understood the many applications that a power rack could have. I contemplated getting rid of it entirely and replacing it with a power rack, but then I would need to spend another $100+ on a three-way (incline, flat, decline) bench, and I don't have the extra cash at the moment. Also, with the power rack you can do pull ups and (with some of them) dips, so there's one less piece of equipment you need to worry about. The lat tower is used for my squats mostly (again, a power rack would have the pleasure if I had one), although it is nice to be able to do pull downs, tricep pressdowns, and cable crunches. Still, it's not necessary. And I just like seated calf raises a lot and don't care much for standing calf raises w/the barbell (though I still do them), so I treated myself to the extra equipment just for seated calf raises. Again, it's not necessary.

Bottom line is that with a power rack and a good bench along with plenty of plates, dumbbells and an olympic bar, you can get one hell of a workout for any body part. But don't take my word for it; just read some of John's journal entries around the time he got his power rack and bench and see how much better his workouts became as a result of just that equipment (along w/the dumbbells he already had).

The greatest thing about that whole set-up is the vintage television, no doubt. :tu: ;)

I have to say, Famous, you've got an excellent gyn there, and I'm jealous to be quite frank.

There is no real tradition of basements on this side of the Atlantic, so it's 2 things I'm jealous of you for; the fact you have a basement, and the toys you have in it.

Andrew.

If you look closely in the shot that has the TV and the junk bench, to can see a betamax above the junk bench near the top of the picture.

FYI: There's a 486 PC on the shelf above and to the left of that (not shown). We uh....have a lot of "vintage" goodies. :D

You should have seen the TV I had before. The picture was green, exclusively. You turned it on, you got greeen. Not a picture that was tinted green, just a fully green screen and sound. It also didn't have cable, so it was totally useless (hence I upgraded, which as you can see was a MAJOR upgrade). ;)
