View Full Version : Yogurt Recommendations?
workoutgrrl Thu, February 5th, 2004, 10:49 AM I'm eating yogurt daily as a mid-day snack for it's calcium and protein combination (as well as the other good stuff it does for women). However, I find the Stonyfield (my favorite brand) has a LOT of carbs and a LOT of sugar. Does anyone have other Yogurt brand recommendations that may be lower in carbs/sugar?
matalo Thu, February 5th, 2004, 10:58 AM Right now I am eating Blue Bunny Lite 85 yogurt. I have two for breakfast every morning 1 hour after HIIT. Here are the details:
Cal Fat sat fat carbs fiber sugar protein
6 oz Blue Bunny Yogurt 80 0.0 0.0 14 0 9 6
Razor Thu, February 5th, 2004, 11:26 AM I eat Yoplait light yogurt. It's 100 cals, 19 carbs and 14 sugars. I don't have it often due to the level of carbs and sugars, but it's the best I can find around here.
kirby Thu, February 5th, 2004, 03:44 PM I LOVE yogurt too. It's a great snack + has all those good bacteria...
Sugar - go with the plain (not vanilla!) yogurt. Sweeten or flavor yourself w/a sugar substitute, jam, fresh fruit, frozen fruit (like those bags of frozen berries...). I promise it will taste better than the fake ones!
Brand - my newest fave is this Greek yogurt I found at Trader Joe's. It's called Total 0% (Fat Free). Definitely more expensive than the other brands (sux), but soooo good. The texture is a lot thicker than other ff yogurts *and* fewer carbs!

I agree, Blue Bunny Lite rules. :tu: I've tried many and it not only is the lowest in calories but it tastes the best too. I eat 3 cups per day with 1 tbsp. Sunridge protein powder mixed in - awesome, just like a great dessert!
Per Mon, February 9th, 2004, 07:26 AM My favorite is Yoplait 0.1% fat. Tastes great and the added sugar is fructose (at least here in Norway), which has very low GI :tu:
nibrudt Mon, February 9th, 2004, 12:32 PM I just now tried one of the Yoplait Nouriche thing-a-madoodles and it's not quite bad. It's kind of high in calories (290) and sugar (46) but since I am a customer service rep and can't get away from the desk a lot, it makes a good midday snack - and with my diet, I can have that much sugar and the like while keeping my ratios balanced. I'm gonna look into other alternatives, but until then, this seems like a good idea to me.
SwineTrekkie Mon, February 9th, 2004, 03:43 PM The Blue Bunny stuff is great. My only complaint is that only one store my area carries it and it seems to fly off the shelf. Last week there was only 1 Key Lime left on the shelf; I couldn't believe it!
As for the greek yogurt at Trader Joes. I tried that and it was just too thick and strong for me.
