View Full Version : Dishwasher
jRS August 10th, 2004, 02:05 PM I just found out that there is no dishwasher in my new apartment (and I cant afford to buy one). Does anybody here live without one (silly Q)? Or am I just a little bit spoiled? I cant imagine living without a dishwasher! Its essential! How do you get things clean??
JKulp42757 August 10th, 2004, 02:13 PM Paper Plates. Plasic Cups. Plastic Forks, Spoons, Knives.
I do have a dishwasher, but have been known to sometimes use plastic cutlery/paper plates for weeks because its alot easier to throw something in the trash, than to load/unload it in the dishwasher. Boy, that sounds incredibly lazy!
:D
billysbrew August 10th, 2004, 02:52 PM I lived without one for a good while in the military & college. It was not really that bad as long as your the only one living there. Having to hand wash others dirty dishes can suck (KP) ;) ! Just get a dish drainer and make it a point to wash as you go. If they build up over a few days, thats when the dish washing blues will set in.
use plastic cutlery/paper plates
Works good too!
Jacko August 10th, 2004, 03:59 PM We lived without one for the first two years we were married. One of those Ikea wooden dish holders is necessary so you can air dry stuff. Be prepared for dishes to pile up for several days before you do a massive wash!

This is how you get things clean.
PeteBDawg August 10th, 2004, 04:56 PM You've never hand-washed your dishes? How do you get in passive-aggressive power struggles with your roommates?
Yeah, no dishwasher for me, either, in a three-bedroom apartment, and the dishes pile up like crazy. At least the girl moved out and a third guy moved in. I mean, the dishes generally didn't get washed regularly then, and they certainly don't get washed regularly now, but at least I don't have anybody yelling at me or snidely insulting me on a daily basis anymore. Somebody, I might add, who didn't do the dishes any more or less often than anybody else.
Moral of the story? If you don't have a dishwasher, don't live with a woman.
And if you want to get married, get a dishwasher.

Because it is good for the dishwasher to match the stove and the refrigerator.
*ducks*...
Our dishwasher died about six months ago. I have yet to replace it... that's how much we use it.

Hey, you asked the question, and a picture is worth a thousand words! Guess that makes my post worth 1007... :D

I didn't quite read it as you did the first time, but after reading your comment I was laughing out loud.
I sure hope I get a dishwasher sometime...
=Viking= August 11th, 2004, 08:31 PM No Dishwasher! Hmmmmmmm?
Perhaps the answer is paper products.
The problem with having a wife as a dishwasher is the enormous cost of maintaining her. I don't even want to think about the cost of mine
