I'm looking for some ideas for "snack" type foods that I can use for 2 of my daily meals. What do you guys usually have?

I'm not sure I understand exactly...do you mean "snack" foods as meal substitutes or between meals or with 2 daily meals or just more portable meal choices?

I guess quickly I can put almonds, cashews, walnuts, and natural peanut butter...but I think that might not be what you meant exactly...

I eat peanut butter on one slice of whole wheat bread, apples, bananas, cottage cheese, Whole wheat saltine crackers, and power bar protein plus bars for snacks.

I wouldn't try to "replace" meals with these snacks though.

Oh, I also love hard boiled eggs and baby carrots too. :D

Well, I basically still eat 3 "meals" during the day, but of smaller portions and then I add in 2-3 other "meals" during the day that are more like snacks, ex: one snack may be 200 kcals of nuts with 100 kcals of cottage cheese. It isn't a typical "meal". Some other things I have done is make sandwiches, beef jerky, granola bars, hard-boiled eggs. Basically, food choices that are around 300 kcals that I can put in-between my 3 "meals".

1. I buy a bag of pre-cooked chicken. I throw a serving in a bag and eat that along with a bagel bar (protein enriched energy bar).

2. Fruits. I usually have this as my 2nd breakfast. Banana, a cup of strawberries, or an apple.

3. I buy the pouches of tuna, 5 oz. A handful of whole food crackers and I'm good to go. That is my afternoon 2nd lunch.

I have a ton more... beef jerky, cottage cheese, almonds, on and on and on.

To be honest man, I tried this for a long time and it just didn't pan out for me for the exact reason you've stated. You're looking for 'snack' type items. I found in my experience that they didn't fill me up, tide me to the next meal, or keep my metabolism burning as well as an actual meal did. Its hard to break out of the habit of the 3-meal a day norm, but its important for results IMO.

I think at least! one meal should consist of a whey shake (esp. since I know you're doin' a lifting routine) and some type of fat source. Also, I think snack type things end up being items like fruit that are good at the right time but at the wrong time can hinder progress. Snacks end up being high-GI or random conglomerates of nutrients that may or may not go together. If I were you I'd reconsider your snack type plan and substitute actual meals.

Would you mind giving me an insight into what a few days of your menus may look like? I may very well switch to what you do...it would definitely make shopping easier and I typically have leftovers whenenver I cook dinners.
