Guys,
What do you know and think about L-Carnitine?
I was told that it can act as a fat burner among with other positive affects it has on metabolsim and muscle creation. And I was told to take some of it before my training. Since I read that it could mainly be found in red meats, and I concenrate mainly on chicken lately I'm seriosly considering to try it and looking for as much info about as I can get. What do you think? Cons? Pros?

Thanks in advance

I cant tell you any specific cons and pros but I have a few friends who use it and they seem to think its good.

IMO its just like most supplements out there, they can give you some benefit but you could spend a fortune on supps and I dont think you would be that much better off if you just stuck to eating clean and training hard. :db:

Just stick to 2 or 3 main supplements and train hard otherwise your gonna be spending more on supps a month than rent

just my two cents

Marcus :tucool:

I just started taking proteins, although I've always been any non-natural food. But finally I was convinced that protein poweder is indeed natural and I do need it. Therefore, if I already crossed my lines, I might as well look for additional supplements my body might need. I investigate L-Carnitine and I think I lack a lot of knowledge about Glutamine. Why does John take it, why do other people take it?
What is it good for?

I take L-Glutamine. It stops your muscles from breaking down (anti-catabolism) which is important when you are cutting. That is the main use but it also boosts your immune system and nourishes your digestive tract. They are still researching the benefits and they are coming up with all kinds of new positives.

Of all the amino acids found in your body 60% is L-Glutamine so its natural.

I dont know about where you live but in Australia L-Glutamine costs a fortune so I only use it when I'm cutting heavily.

In my opinion is more useful than L-Carnitine. Theres a lot of info around, so have a look and then decide what best fits your needs and budget.

If you want to take carnitine, I would go with Acetyl-L-Carnitine. It is the more active and bioavailable form of Carnitine. It has a huge number of potential benefits but the most noted one is that it can help weight loss. I took large doses of it stacked with other stuff like ALA, and CLA. To be honest, I dont think it did much.

I agree with Marcus on supps. At best, all you can expect from a natural supplement is a MINOR boost. This is only if your training and eating are all perfect. Training and eating is 99% of your progress.

I take whey, creatine(only 2 weeks so far, but I like it), multivitamin, and green tea/grape seed(I believe these are worth taking)

There are other "unnatural" supplements that WILL work for building muscle such as prohormones, but I dont think these are particuarly healthy. I'm still debating on whether I will try them at some point.
