View Full Version : Stretch Marks
StudlyShafe Sun, August 8th, 2004, 03:44 PM Well, I'm down 100 pounds, but I'm left with some pretty nasty stretch marks...
So what would you guys suggest?
I'm 19, so I have the benefit of being young...I also grabbed a bottle of the reducer cream the other day. Is there anything anyone else can suggest, or will I just have to deal with it? Thanks.

Lost 100 pounds?! HOLY CRAP!
Sorry, I have no idea about the stretch marks, but I have to say congratulations. That is an amazing feat.
Knubb Sun, August 8th, 2004, 04:36 PM Search the forums. It has been discussed over and over. Most people say that you just have to deal with the stretch marks, they never go away.
legend Sun, August 8th, 2004, 05:00 PM yeah i'm down about 100 too and have stretch marks. just gotta deal with em. best way to reduce the appearance is to tan and gain muscle and the y just.. fade over time.
Buchy Tue, August 10th, 2004, 08:56 AM I think you can reduce them with moisturiser creams etc, but tanning and muscle gain will help as well.
andpin Tue, August 10th, 2004, 10:01 AM Hi, i also had stretch marks and they are faiding away with time, iŽam also 19, but i havenŽt lost that much :)
Be patient and try not to gain this fat again.
WickedFaerie Tue, August 10th, 2004, 12:36 PM Are they still red or are they white?
If they are still red you can use Vitamin E oil on them for a few months and they are supposed to heal better (didn't know that when mine were red).
If they are white there isn't much you can do other than tanning for them. I noticed a huge difference when I was going to the tanning bed last year. They will fade with time also. I got a ton up and down my thighs when I was 12 due to a huge growth spurt (not weight related). I went from around 5'4" to 5'10" in two years! They faded, and I can still see them in the right light, but overall they are not very noticeable. I have been using skin tightening lotions every day also, and I have noticed a huge difference in the past two months I have done that.

what skin tightening lotions? can you name a few? which worked better than others?
vestigo Tue, August 10th, 2004, 04:05 PM Once I get down another 10 or 15 pounds, then I'm going to have to look into this also. I have a few on my biceps and down my sides. I'm pretty pale since I sit in a window-less office so I'm sure a tan would probably help a bit.
I am in the software business for spas / medical. One of our customers have told me that there are new procedures that will remove stretch marks at a decent price. Other than that, I'm not really too sure what to do for them...

I started with Jergens Skin Tightening just to see if it worked well. There was a bit of a difference, but a friend of mine got me a bottle of Bath and Body Works (http://www.bathandbodyworks.com) Skin Firming Body Treatment (in warm vanilla scent which is yummy) and it has been working better than anything I have ever used. I think a bottle of it is $14 and they have a bunch of different scents. Try it for a month or so and see what you think. I certainly think it is worth the money.

You should start on them now, not later when you lose weight. It takes time to get them to fade (if at all) and the sooner you look into it the better. I am happy that I have been improving mine before I am finished with my weight loss. It gives me more confidence about my body and I hope that when I am finished with my weight loss they will be very faded.
