Ive been noticing for a little while now that my apendages seem to get pins and needles/go numb rather quickly in positions that they shouldnt. For example, this morning, i was lying on my back in bed with one hand on my chest, like over my heart. It went completely numb in 5 or 10 minutes. Putting my feet up on a desk results in one foot going pretty numb. I think that any time something is higher than my heart, the blood drains out, which i guess makes sense, but it seems much too amplified for my tastes. Anyone else experience this? Anyone know how to increase my blood flow or keep this from happening? I really dont like it :(

I have no idea why you would get "pins and needles" without having blood flow cut off to wherever. I just wanted to add the reason a professor once gave for pins and needles happening. When you don't have enough oxygen supplied to the area, it begins to rely on anaerobic fuels and acids build up. then, the acids stimulate your nerves and it creates that weird sensation.

I know this doesn't help you at all....I just think its kind of interesting.

It seems to me if this keeps happening you might wanna see a doctor. I'd be nervous of anything weird happening with the old cardiovascular system.

I have this same problem. I went to see a few docs and they basically told me my circulation was fine. So nobody really knows what causes it. I'm hopping when I lose some weight it will go away. I've also smoked for 20 years (I'm 28).

Def see your doc and rule out anything serious...
