I didn't want to beat an old thread that "It is Rob" made but I kind of want to put my input in that general direction. This is my first time...BE GENTLE! As a person who went to school for basically everything that is fitness I'll see what I can do. IF YOU ARE THINKING OF LOSING WEIGHT, DO NOT GO BY THIS AND INSTEAD, READ MY LAST 2 PARAGRAPHS...THIS IS FOR ROB ONLY AND THOSE WHO WANT TO TELL ME HOW WRONG I AM(HAHA).

Rob brought up some good points but he is a little misguided from what I can tell. The best example he gave was the "To each their own" example. Why he comes on a "John Stone" forum and expects praise for a one a day meal diet, I have no idea. Anyway, I will assume everything he said to be true; that he has lost weight, kept up his muscles, and feels great by eating one LIGHT meal a day. There is countless diets out there but I don't think this is one of them. Adderral does in fact reduce, if not completely get rid of hunger. And you're right, many people do insult one meal a day diets because they assume that one meal is going to be huge and unhealthy and that you will be binging it per say.

Is eating one light meal a day a healthy way to lose weight? Of course not. Will you lose weight on this plan? Yup. Please understand that doing this for a couple of months will probably get you to your goal. But understand that you can't do this forever. The body is an amazing thing and this may sound unethical and crazy but I say do it if it's working. BUT HEAR THIS. Only if by the time you lose the weight and you do as you say you were going to do...and work out while getting into that 6 meal a day diet in a few weeks. You won't do any permanent damage unless you eat one meal a day for the rest of your life(which will be cut extremely short). It sounds unhealthy but it can easily be made right in the gym(where you should easily gain back any muscles you lost in the process). It's a lot healthier than eating pizza and drinking cokes for the rest of your life. You shouldn't gain any of the weight back if you follow the right diet. I assume the depression thing is over so it shouldn't be a problem going back to the way you were.

Now that that is over, let me explain why Fast Weight Loss is possible. As I said earlier, there are way too many diets to keep up with. Does eating six meals a day work? Hell yea it does. But to those that are discouraged and like any normal person, don't have the time for that, fear not. All you have to know is that every single person is different and when reading some tips, it may not apply to you. If you have been large your entire life, I'm sorry but losing weight fast and keeping it off, is impossible. But for God sakes don't let that discourage you! Just know that with a constant work out regime and healthy diet, you should be great and it will all be worth it. Do you need six meals a day to do that? Nope. Just keep in mind what you're eating and pay attention to calories. If you have time for the six meal a day plan, absolutly do it.

Now here comes the part where I explain how Fast Weight Loss is possible...kind of. I chose "It is Rob" post because it compliments my point. People that have been fit their whole life and then gain weight be it through depression or that damn College "Freshman 15," tend to lose weight a lot faster once they fix their temporary problem. In my experience these people have been known to drop weight sporatically, just by going back to the gym and not eating so much junk. If you fall into this category and think that you are losing weight too fast, it's not usually a problem because your body is just making up for lost time and trying to get back to the shape it was before. Unlike people that have been large their entire lives with a slow metabolism, the formerly fit body will tend to get back that metabolism that it once had a lot quicker.

I really don't think you're going to get too much argument from the folks on this bboard. One of the reasons I come here is to look for SENSIBLE advice and encouragement. Sure you could do some of those wacky, "miracle" things that people propose -- but most of us here (I believe) are looking for permanent, sensible lifestyle changes -- not some lose-fat-fast cures. I started lurking on this forum about a month ago, seems to me Rob is the exception not the rule. (Not that it isn't worth seeing the exceptions.)

But, long term, I'd expect Rob's diet to produce the concentration camp effect type of weight loss.

Likewise, this bboard promotes fitness, working out, and being active. Something that would be virtually impossible on an Atikins diet -- which some consider a valid or sensible approach. This months Runner's World had an interesting feature by a woman runner who decided to try Atikins for a couple of weeks. It was very enlightening. It really made here usual running workouts very hard to complete. At one point she even suffered memory loss, couldn't remember her phone number things like that. I don't have the article in front of me, details are a bit sketchy.

Anyway, IMHO, your part of the majority here.
