Hey there...

I'm at stage 2 of my fat loss plan. Stage 1 was my diet... I have been researching for months and months and learned so much I didn't know about nutrition. So now that I have learnt the fundamentals of nutrition I'm looking to do the same with my exercise plan.

Currently I'm walking 5km (3.125miles) in the morning before breakfast. I do this in about 42mins so the intensity is not that high. I quite enjoy this as I walk around my neighbourhood and it's got some really steep hills which are really challenging.

I've already seen some good results from my walking but at the end of the day it's not going to really "transform" my body.

So I have come up with something new which I would like to get your opinions on. So here is what I have come up with.

Monday to Friday I am going to continue my early morning walking.
Then I am going to perform HIIT training on Mon/Wed/Fri. I will do this in the evening. Around 630pm. This will allow me to eat a good solid meal a couple of hours before hand and have me pumped for the HIIT session. I'm going to start out doing it twice per week then maybe add the friday as a 3rd session when i am used to the HIIT style.

On Tues/Thurs/Sat I would like to do a weight session. Again I will be doing this around 6.30pm so nutrition wise I will be able to prepare earlier. I am an absolute beginner at lifting weights. I have read alot about weight training but never actually got my ass up to lift at all! So I am going to be starting with a full body workout. Lifting 3 sessions per week. 1 exercise per bodypart. 1st week will be 1 set, 2nd week 2 sets and 3rd week 3 sets. And continue on with 3 sets after that only increasing weight as my strength increases. 8-12 reps per set.

Do you guys think this is a solid platform or is it leaning on overtraining?... my goal is maximum fat loss whilst retaining as much muscle as possible..

It depends on how fit, how well trained, you are. It could lead to overtraining if you are not prepared. But if you are fit enough there is no risk for overtraining. Because your body will adapt to more and heavier training. And when you are ready for it a program like the one you are planning will be fine. Of course your age is also significant. If you are 20 I think that your body will be able to handle that training without any problems. If you are 45 you might want to be somewhat more careful before staring to train that hard.

Regards!

You can work out all you want, but if you're not eating properly, you wont progress as intended. Diet is the most important thing.
