It's pretty obvious that we're all pretty much focused on being physicaly fit and eating right but how do you achieve balance in the rest of your life?

Right now I have a mojor imbalance. I've been focusing too much on running to the point were I can't even enjoy a run anymore because I'm afraid how it's going to impact my Pikes Peak Ascent race time. I've been depressed and my work and quality time with my family has suffered.

So I've made a conscience decission that fitness will not longer BE my life. It will always be a mojor part just not everything.

Anyone else? How do you achieve balance?

I can't even balance weights and cardio. I can expect gains in only one or the other, the other one I keep doing, but I don't get better at it. So I take turns focusing on one or the other.

My fit lifestyle has so far helped to balance the rest of my life. It makes everything else a little more clear. I'm probably one of the lucky ones that way.

Your post reminded me of an article I read on Kevin Kelly's site, Cool Tools. He gave an extremely positive review of some software called, Life Balance which sounds very interesting. It's a sort of dynamic to do list based on the importance you assign to various things in your life. The following links explain it much better than I can. Good luck finding a balance.
