From the beginning. I started training a little while ago doïng a type of what i heard is called plyometrics. I picked a weight not heavy weight but realatively light. And my series would be 2 or 3 times 50 reps (depending on wich muscle I excercised) and I would build up to 2 or 3 times 100 reps. After I reached 2 times 100 reps for a muscle, I would increase to 3 times 50 reps and I would also increase the weights by 2.5 Kilo's. And then I would start building up to 3 times 100 and then increase the weights again and start over again at 3 times 50 reps. I started progressing and everything went fine. I felt pain during excercise but it was very normal due to build up of lactic acid. Especially with this type of training because I tried to push and pull the weights as fast as I could. I would stretch every muscle right after I worked each muscle out. The next day I would feel normal muscle pain like in any other fitness programs and these pains subsided also like in any normal fitness program. But after a while of doïng fine and progressing normally, I started feeling different pains in my biceps. I began excercising my biceps with 2 times 50 reps towards 2 times 100 reps and then I increased the weight with 2.5 kilo's and started doïng 3 times 50 reps to 3 times 100 reps and then increase weight and start over at 3 times 50 etc. I felt the pain (the next day) when I tried to stretch my arm, I coulden't even stretch my arm fully because it felt like it was gonna tear or rip. After I felt this pain I stopped working out and waited untill the pain was gone and I could stretch my arm again normally, the muscle was healed (or so it seemed). I started working out again and the next day I felt that same pain again and I also coulden't stretch my arm, again. I just figured I should've waited longer before starting to work out again, to give the muscle more time to heal proparly. So this time I waited a while longer. But again when I tried to work my biceps I felt the excact same pain again and coulden't stretch my arm. Right now the muscle is "fine" again. But when I pres on that spot were the biceps connect to my forearms it hurts like hell. It is that same spot that feels like it's gonna tear or rip if I try to fully stretch my arm, there is something wrong with the connective tissue of my biceps. Is this what professionels call an inflamation of the muscle? Any help and insight apreciated, I would really like to get back to my work out as soon as possible. :db:

Thnx.

The place that you are pressing is the tendon that connects the muscle to the bone. Sounds like you have tendonitus, or inflammation of the tendon. You need to let that heal properly before you continue your workout or it can get severely damaged. I would have it checked out by a doctor if I were you.

In February, I jumped back into training too fast, going heavy on hammer curls before I had even allowed my body to readapt to weight training. I had the exact same pain in the area you described. I stopped training until the pain went away and then started properly; it took almost three weeks for it to heal.

I waited until I couldn't even press on the tendon and feel pain. If you feel pain with an action you wouldn't normally (pressing on the tendon) then you are still injured.

Ice it several times per day for at least a week. Don't do any exercises that will use that arm. See a physical therapist (physiologist to all you non-US people) if the pain gets to be too bad.

Plyometrics are hard on the joints too. Most people don't use that training format until there is some good base to work with. I have no idea how fit you are.

(paragraphs are nice too! :) )

LOL, yeah I know, I should write a book. I hear what you typing. I was thinking the same thing, go slow in the beginning untill the muscles are somewhat stronger and bigger, and go in full! Nice strategy. :tu:
