I'm thinking of revamping my schedule to include yoga right before I hit the weight room, good or bad idea?

View Full Version : Yoga right before weight training? TheLemonSong Tue, August 3rd, 2004, 04:06 PM I'd say this depends on what your goal with the yoga is... If you mean in terms of stretching, I think you're better off just doing stretches and saving the yoga for postworkout or a seperate day. I use yoga to develop my balance and focus. So certainly there are some benefits to doing it beforehand, I'm just not so sure about it because whenever I finish a yoga session I'm just far too relaxed and calmed out to have the psyche to want to lift... ajna_star Tue, August 3rd, 2004, 04:28 PM i agree with ^^... youll be way too relaxed to workout after yoga, if yoru doing yoga properly... yoga is great AFTER cardio or lifting.... pablo Thu, August 5th, 2004, 01:29 AM I prefer yoga after weight training. I like the way a yoga practice moves fresh blood all through out the body. I feel like it washes out some of the lactic acid that that gets built up (that's my completely unscientific opinion). I think it's also good for loosening some of the tightness weight training can generate. Be careful not to overdo it. I found myself with pretty worn out shoulders after going through chatarunga a zillion times. (=lowering yourself from plank pose). I would experiment with before and after and see which you like better. |
