Hey, after going to the Y this morning to start another week of my routine, and completly failing on everything I think its about time I take that week break. I warmed up correctly, but just couldn't even bench what I was 3 weeks ago. It is about that time anyways (8-10 weeks) It is only my 5th week in freeweights but i did 5 weeks before that just on machines (overtraining completly)

Now i just have a few questions about how I should handle this break

1) Diet: Should i eat as I usually would on lifting days, or should i just eat whatever i feel like? I.E. (stick with having kashi go lean, or take a break and have cheerios) Should I eat fast food? Should i treat it as somewhat of a cheat week?

2) My lifting routine is Monday, Wed, Fri, with cardio on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and sunday is my cheat/day off. Do i continue to do cardio this week 2marrow, thursday and saturday, or do i take the whole week off just resting?

Sorry about all the questions, but i have never taken a week off, so i would like to do it right

Whatever you do, don't slack off on the diet! Certainly don't treat it as a cheat week. Continue with the clean eating and maybe back off of the calories a little since you won't be burning as much through exercise.

As for the cardio, it's your choice. I've seen recommendations both ways. Personally, I continue with cardio through my off weeks but at a slower pace and maybe a little less time. The whole idea of an off week is to allow your body to recover. Don't overdo it on the cardio.
