Hello EveryBody,

I started my weight loss program some time in September2003 and
I reduced from 240lbs to 205lbs.. So Fat So Good....

Here is the problem...

I do cardio everyday (6 days per week) for about 1 hr (30 MInutes walk +
30 MInutes Cycling). Now I had no problem with my kneees till now...

For last 2-3 days I am sensing little (very little) pain in my both knees
when I twist my legs...

I thought there could be thousand reasons for that overdone, not enough
strech, no proper action....

Now I would love to take suggestion from any one of U guys... what
is best immeadiate precaution for not getting worse...

Please share your knowledge on this matter....

Are there any other alternative forms of cardio which doesn't(little) create
stress on my knees...

I am really scared to stop my cardio....

Thanks,
Ram

I'd suggest taking it light until you see a doctor and find out what the cause of that is.

See a Doctor ASAP. You could have torn or be on the brink of tearing something - something as little as walking could tear it - its always better to be safe than sorry, you'll be glad you had it checked out, even if its nothing.

I'm prone to shin splints and I've had plenty of injuries to my knees over the years. The main thing is that when a pain seems foreign to you, you have to get it looked at. Once you have a diagnosis, you can kind of determine how far to push yourself, how much it can handle, etc.

With that in mind, an elliptical machine is a lower impact cardio workout than, say, the treadmill. I wouldn't think the bike would cause too much stress on your knees, either, but...

And I agree, you don't want to cut out your cardio. Hopefully this is a temporary and/or minor thing.

i play football for notre dame, and yes i have had my share of knee problems. i have torn my left ACL three times, each time accompanied with a great deal of cartilage damage. i have had seven knee surgeries. i am three months out of my last ACL reconstruction, and i am doing very well. I have decided to retire this year, seven surgeries is too much. ( i am a sophomore) If you have any quiestions about knee injuries or surgeries, trust me that i know more about the knee than i ever thought i would. drop me a line on here or e mail, i'll get back to you right when i see it.

Good to hear things worked out.

You may not need it, but I just want to add that you can try taking a Glucosamine/chondroitin. It has been clinically proven to rehabilitate cartilage that has detriorated. There may be a small part of the population that doesn't respond to it. Side effects can include stomach upset. Don't take if you're diabetic or allergice to shellfish. It may take up to 4 weeks to see improvement.
