So my friend just told me about this, and I figured some of you chocoholics might like to know. She says that if she's in dire need of some sugar, she has 5 M&M candies (17cals,2.5g carbs,1mg cholesterol, 1.5g fat). One at a time, chew them slowly, and she feels much better afterwards, and very little impact on one's diet. No more than 5 a day, though!

Sugar free gum works well to crush cravings (not necessarily limite to cravings for sugar), lasts longer, and has less calories.

I've personally started eating a jolly rancher a day. The caloric values aren't even enough for me to consider (incidentally, the info is based on 3 candies as opposed to a single candy). I would not be doing this at all if I was struggling to cut, but I'm fortunate enough to have had great results so far.

Try eating half a teaspoon of fructose. Fructose has a GI of 23 compared to sugar which is around 70. It's also much sweeter, so you need less to satisfy your cravings.
