I read recently read on the web about an 18 min workout routine that research showed provided significan stregnth gains. Anyone heard of it? Also, I am looking into some Hoist quick change dumbells which go from 5 - 75 lbs. They seem cheap at $222 with stand, they are like the Ironmasters. One concern is that they take a couple of turns of the knob to lock in place as opposed to quicker methods on the Power Blocks. As an Aside, the say you can feel free to drob them and once locked, they feel like a solid dumbell.

Any thoughts

well if you are totally untrained youll probably get results from this, as with any kind of exercise really.

But, significan? uhm im doubtfull
i think i can say with some level of certainty that it is NOT a method for bulking up
To me it sure looks like it would be easier to get results from just doing pullups situps pushups etc. exercises without any equipment at your disposal

Never seen those dumbells before so i cant help there

I saw the dumbbells in a fitness store, right next to power blocks. I asked the guy about them some, and he said they are okay. They have some advantages over power blocks, namely the price, but there is a real downside: They are not very quick to change, and they can fall off. Unless you lock them in extremely tight, you have to be somewhat careful with them because the weight tiles can fall off.

He also told me that Hoist is coming out with a new version this fall, and it will feature a faster locking system that is supposedly 100% secure. He hadn't gotten a chance to see them yet though.

I personally really like the idea of them and their space saving properties. I think there is a 3rd brand out there, too. I'd search google.

Thats what I thought, the thing that cought my eye was that during the "university test" one individual whent from a 125 max military press to 205 in 3 months. Throw that out as an anomally and could you go from 105 to 170? Still pretty good gain, but all is usless with out article. How different could the program be compared to others?

Good observation KM, I saw that the Iron master and the Hoist looked to be the same. Iron Master has the quick lock but hoist is not advertising it yet. I assume that they will be getting the same system as Iron master. I sure would hate to get hit in the head
