Is the protein in tuna adequate for consuming after a workout, compared to protein supplement powders?

Im not an expert, but I would say it's better then nothing. However...being that the protein is in solid form instead of liquid form, (in a shake), it will take longer to absorb into the body. Im not sure if it would absorb quickly enough to be beneficial as an "immediate after workout protein suppliment."

How long after a workout is the maximum I could wait before consuming protein?

I have heard and read that you want your post workout protein suppliment to be ingested no later than 20-30 minutes after you finish your workout.

Is it more crucial to consume protein after a weight workout than after a cardio/hiit workout?

I don't do cardio during my bulking phase, but I would assume that your protein intake is much more important after a weight workout than after cardio.
During a weight workout you are "breaking down" the muscle. The protein is needed to "rebuild it". :flex:

Your best bet for post workout protein is a whey protein shake, as whey is absorbed much faster than other types. Although milk may be used in the shake (in order to get the added slow-digesting cassein protein), I prefer water (better for cutting). As far as timing of your post workout protein consumption, try to get it in as close to the end of your workout as you can. I've done some reading on www.bodybuilding.com and www.exrx.net that suggests 90% of the postworkout nutrient absorption takes place within 2 hours of the end of a workout.
