If it hurts, why not find another excersize that doesn't hurt? Perhaps this is a form issue..but either way, why are pushups necessary? There are plenty of excersizes to target different muscle groups and while pushups are excellent compound excersizes there could possibly be a substitute (dips, pullups?? I don't really know off hand)....also, do you have pushup bars or just doin' them barehanded on the floor..I have pushup bars and they're a wrist-saver and help my form immensely!

Put a towel or something soft under your butt when you do sit-ups. I always lie on a thin piece of foam while doing any kind of floor ab work.

I don't know what to say about it hurting while doing push-ups though.
