I am having difficulty with my stomach muscles showing due to some fat on my belly. I know the muscles are there because when I pull my fat down some I can see a good six pack underneath. My question is that since I see the good muscles underneath should I be concentrating more of Cardio to lose the fat or ab workouts to keep growing the muscles even though I think they are nice size already if they didn’t have a layer of fat over them.
Secondly, do most of you work your abs out daily, every other day, or once a week? I try to do crunches everyday but honestly I don’t know if that’s good because I hear you need to give all your muscles 48hrs to recover but not sure if that includes stomach muscles. Thanks for the help.

"6-packs are made in the kitchen, not the gym"
Or so I'm told... Supposidly, the biggest factor in whether your 6-pack will show is if your body fat % is low enough. I used to do crunches every night for years and I had a pretty nice 6-pack, but it also went along with cardio and proper dieting. So the cause of the sudden abs is unknown.
I have been reading lately however that the abs are like any other muscle and should only be worked 1-2 times a week. I have been doing that as of late.

First of all, your body fat has to be 10% or lower. Second you have to have muscle to show. In order to get to 10% body fat you have to do more cardio then weight lifting. Also, woork out your abbs every 3rd day.
Calculate your body fat % first. And then derive the program for fat loss. And thirdly, track your prograss. but you have to do cardio (better to do HIIT) to lose the belly fat -- that is the only way.

As little as 1/8 inch of fat can obscure your abs. bf% is the key, and it usually needs to be below 10% -- no easy feat.
There are some topical fat loss products that are on the market, but they really can't replace diet and cardio. Also, (in males) fat loss seems to progress in reverse order of how it is deposited -- meaning that the abdomen is the first place we gain weight and the last place we lose it.
Good luck on your six-pack :gl:
