I'm about to begin weight training so I bought a ProForm home gym (http://www.iconfitness.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ProductDisplay?prmenbr=979&prrfnbr=680564&cgrfnbr=10675") (anyone have experience with this one?)
Now I need to find a weight set. Considering I'm a beginner, I'm not picky about namebrands, etc... I just need some olympic sized plates at a good price. Does anyone have any suggestions about where to find a good deal in the LA area? I've heard that 300lb sets have been going for $99, and that's what I'm looking for.
Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Maybe I asked prematurely... I just found this (http://www.sportmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=1125026&cp=710956.1085818.693997&parentPage=family) at Sportmart.
** but, this is on online-only special. shipping costs an additional $100... so i guess i'm still looking for a local deal.

I'd just look at your local sporting good stores. Especially the big ones with lots of locations. They are generally cheaper because they have much higher orders.
Dick's Sporting Goods, Sportsmart, Sports Authority, etc.

I'm in So Ca and I need one too. I just ordered the PowerTech rack and I need an olympic set this week. Play it Again has new ones for $140. That's all I've found so far. If I find anything else I'll post. Please do so as well.

I paid $130 or 140 last year for my 300 lb set from play it again. The bar is nice and strong and the weights are good. Of course, it's difficult to mess up a rod of metal and iron plates :)
I was at a huge local store this weekend and for $99 they had a 300 lb set. I'd also recommend just hitting up the local sporting good stores - the bigger the better. Call around first even!

I bought at Play it Again today. $150 out to door. I paid a bit more than the $120. The kind I bought has the lip to make it easier to grab. I don't know if the $120 ones have that. I need dumbells now!
