View Full Version : A Little Help, Please!
paradox. Sat, July 10th, 2004, 02:50 PM I have lost about 45 lbs and the thing with me is that I have lost most of it from my arms, back, stomach area, etc. I currently weigh about 157 and am 6'1. I don't wanna be bulky or gain muscle, I just wanna have an athletic cut but I still have some fat remaining. Whenever I do cardio in the morning, I seem to lose weight easily and I don't want to. I wanna be hovering around the 155-160 area for now, so what can I do? I eat about 1200 calories a day of good food and basically I've achieved my goal (original weight loss) simply by cutting out the junk food. I'm still a teenager, thus I believe that its not essential for me to go on some sorta diet. I have been eating tuna, eggs, and the whole health package "shabang". I don't want to go any lower in weight, but I do wanna tone up. I am also doing a full body workout, 3 times a week and play a lot of basketball ...any suggestions on how to eliminate more of this fat? Or should I just let my body get adjusted to the drastic weight loss and hope it'll go away as I mature? All feedback is appreciated.
Fourteener Sat, July 10th, 2004, 03:08 PM You need to be lifting from the sound of it. You say you are doing a fullbody workout 3 times a week? I don't think that is very sound for maintaining muscle as most say to work a muscle group 1-2 times a week, but I suppose it would certainly depend on what type of workout you are doing.. i.e intensity, reps, sets, exercises, etc.
If you want to lose fat without losing weight, then you have to build muscle. In the least you need to maintain muscle mass.
I would probably trade in that full body workout for a 3 day split type.

rtestes Sat, July 10th, 2004, 03:20 PM You need to change your diet to a maintainance diet. Increase your intake by 400 a week till you reach 2200 of that clean food. Keep the weight program going, always trying to increase weight used.
Build some muscle and the fat will go to background.
paradox. Sat, July 10th, 2004, 03:44 PM Thank you for your feedback.
I am not sure if I can possibly eat at a 2200 calorie level, because I never ate too much, I just ate the wrong food. I'm also not hungry most of the time, but before I would eat some cookies, or ice cream because I was simply bored and thats when the fat started forming. Other than that, I'm not hungry most of the time and when I am I eat and in the vice versa, when I'm not, I don't. Thanks once again, lates!

It's kind of hard knowing what fat is left to lose when you don't specify the area. Have you had your BF% measured, and if so, what is it?

You want less fat, no more muscles, but you don't want to lose any weight?

1200 kcals a day? How did you come up with this number? It seems WAY too low, especially if you're a teenager.

My suggestions to eliminate more fat would be:
Eat more, I don't think you're getting nearly enough energy for a teenager exercising multiple times a week. Don't be afraid to gain some muscle. At 6'1" I doubdt that you would look "bulky" even if you added 20 lbs. More muscles would also mean that you burn more energy.
Split your workout. As Fourteener says, you don't want to hit a muscle more than once or twice a week.
