Well, I've been trying to lose weight for a while, but my weight keeps fluctuating up and down like 5 lbs. So I figured that I'd get more organized and start a journal.

These are my stats as of this morning, July 8, 2004:

Height: 5'5
Weight: 143 lbs

My goal is 120 lbs

I agree, but I'm going to experiment with my calorie intake for a while and see what works best for me. Thanks for the input though ;)

I'm too ashamed to say :o I always start off really really good.....then I mess it all up towards the end of the day. I'm gonna really have to control this in the future.

Yeah....I know :o But I eat oatmeal for breakfast Monday thru Friday....I give myself a break from it on the weekends. But thanks for the input. ;)

This is the plan for this week....I'll let ya know whether or not I actually stuck to it.

Mon 7/12 - Thurs 7/15
Meal 1 - Oatmeal
Meal 2 - Sandwhich, Apple
Meal 3 - Tuna Sandwhich
Meal 4 - Yogurt (w/ supps)
Meal 5 - Protein Shake w/ glutamine

Fri 7/16
Meal 1 - Oatmeal
Meal 2 - Sandwhich, Apple
Meal 3 - :D 6 inch sub w/ (2 cookies or chips), diet soda
Meal 4 - Protein Shake w/ glutamine

EDIT: 7/13/04
Okay, the above plan comes out to be about 1290 calories. I wonder if this is too low. I've been feeling tired so it probably is. I'm going to go ahead and stick with it for the remainder of the week. On Sunday...I might develop another plan and up my calories...I'm not really sure yet though. If I do I will most likely develop a more intense workout plan too.

Good question. Well, I do my shoulders with my bis and tris. I was actually just doing some research to see how I could change my workout plan for the better. I'm going to start the following routine tomorrow....and I'll be sure to include back and chest:

Mon - Cardio
Tues - Full Body Workout
Wed - Cardio
Thurs - Full Body Workout
Fri - Cardio
Sat - Full Body Workout

I may (or may not...haven't decided) post specific information for what I do on these days.

Today was a good day. I stuck to my diet plan...and I did about 30 minutes of low-intensity cardio. I feel kind of tired and weak right now, so I'll probably go to sleep early. Hopefully I'll feel better tomorrow. My first post shows that my long-term goal is to get down to 120 lbs, but I figured that I should have some sort of short-term goal as well. I'm not going to do weekly goals but I'm leaving to go NEW ORLEANS in the second week of August. It sure would be nice to be a couple of pants sizes smaller when I go out there. So my short-term goal is:

135 lbs by August 6th.....this is a pretty reasonable goal. I'll keep everyone posted on how I'm progressing....and I'll eventually post some pics. I think that I'll post when I'm done with my cutting phase. This probably won't be until September or maybe even October...we'll see.

Well I'm still really really tired. I probably should be eating more. Maybe I'll make some changes for next weeks plan. I think that I may increase my cardio. I want to lose this fat ASAP. I was thinking that I'll do cardio at least 6 days a week, but I'll only do about 30 minutes on weight training days. The other three days I'll do about 45 minutes (medium intensity). Well, I'm off to eat my oatmeal :D ...I am SO hungry...and dehydrated. I really need to get into the habit of drinking more water. I read that it helps to keep your metabolism going. ;)

....5 minutes later..... :lol:

Okay, I've been thinking. I'm in summer school until the end of July...and I'm going out of town in the beginning of August. When I come back I will start doing a cardio session in the morning and add a protein shake w/ glutamine to my diet. That will give me a total of about 1500 calories per day on my current plan. This is a little more than 10 times my body weight so I'll have to have a really intense workout schedule in order to keep losing weight. I'll try it for a week or two in August and see how it goes. So I guess I will just stick with the plan that I'm on until my four weeks are up. :D

...2 hours later...

I am really really really hungry right now. I'm not supposed to eat lunch for another 15 minutes though. THIS SUCKS!...but it feels good at the same time. I'm just happy that I'm taking control and setting some boundaries for myself. But I can't wait for Friday to come...CHEAT DAY ;) (I won't go overboard though).

I did really well on my diet yesterday. I stuck to everything 100% which is amazing for me. I think that I'm actually learning some discipline. ;) I worked my arms yesterday. My shoulders were on fire yesterday but I don't feel any soreness this morning. To be quite honest, I NEVER feel sore. Maybe I'm not working hard enough.

I feel REALLY REALLY REALLY good this morning. I have a lot more energy than I did Monday and Tuesday. I think that I may come off of my regular plan just for today and eat a little bit more. I don't want my metabolism to slow down...and I definitely don't want to lose any muscle. I had half of protein shake this morning, which is probably part of the reason why I have so much energy. My diet plan for today looks like this:

Meal 1 @4:30
Protein Shake w/ glutamine (110/15)

Meal 2 @6:00
Oatmeal (240/8)

Meal 3 (SNACK) @8:00
Apple (125/x)
Diet Soda (0/0)

Meal 4 @9:00
Sandwhich (150/15)
Apple (125/0)

Meal 5 @11:00
Cheerios w/ Soy Milk (400/15)

Meal 6 @3:00
Sunchips (210/4)
Oatmeal Raisin Breakfast Bar (220/4)

Calories: 1580
Protein: 91

....this is about 300 cals over what I normally eat. I also came to the conclusion that having a diet and workout plan or more difficult than I orginally thought, so I'm just going to focus on my diet for a while. I'm still going to continue to workout and do cardio, but I'm not going to follow a really specific workout until a little later. I'll just have to take it day by day.

Well I actually ate more today than whats posted above. I had a sandwhich (150 cals) and some other little things...so I went well over my normal calorie intake, but I feel like it may have done my body some good. I ran for 45 minutes and I worked my chest and arms today so I'm feeling pretty good about today :tu: .

I'm probably going to go back to my original plan today and have the following:

Meal 1 - Oatmeal (240/8)
Meal 2 - Sandwhich (150/15), Apple (110/x)
Meal 3 - Tuna Sandwhich (420/70)
Meal 4 - Rice w/ Mixed Veggies

and Friday will most likely look like this:

Meal 1 - Oatmeal (240/8)
Meal 2 - Sandwhich (150/15), Apple (110/x), Yogurt (110/4)
Meal 3 - [healthy meal of choice...not really a cheat meal]

I'm only having 3 meals on Friday because of my schedule. I'm still contemplating whether or not I want to have a cheat meal on Saturday. I was thinking about giving myself two options on Saturday:

a) Small Breakfast, CHEAT MEAL, Small Dinner
b) Anything I want, but I have to count calories (no more than 1500)

....we'll see.

So I lied....I really have no clue as to what Friday and Saturday will look like....I'm still deciding. I feel like my life revolves around food and exercise. Oh well...I gotta meet my goals. Today was a good day though. I stayed within my calorie range and I had a pretty good cardio session.

YAY! I lost 3.5 lbs this week :claplow: . I'm assuming that all of that wasn't fat, but I can look in the mirror and tell that some of it was. I was going to have a cheat meal either today or tomorrow, but I don't want to do any back sliding. I want everyday to count as a "good day"...no bad, naughty, cheat days until I see more progress. I'll probably just ease up on my diet this weekend...NO TUNA....I'm kind of tired of it...

Today will most likely look like this:

Bagel w/ Cream Cheese (400/X)

Diet Soda (0/0)

6" Sub, 2 Cookies (or chips), Diet Soda

Protein Shake w/ Glutamine (210/30)

This is far from healthy and some may call it a cheat day, but I don't because I'm still restricting my calories. I'm just eating some of the things that I've been craving earlier in the week.

....10 minutes later....

OH MY....i think I might want some donuts :drool: I really need to get a life. I'm at work and all I can think about is what I'm going to eat when i get home....so sad.

....3 minutes later :o ...

Okay I've decided that I'm not going to pig out today. We're going to the movies tomorrow and I'll eat what I want there. So I'm going to play it pretty safe today and try not to eat junk food....

....about an hour later....

Okay...i really need to get this out of my system. I'm gonna get a BIG FAT JUICY CINNABON today. I HAVE to do it. I'm gonna be thinking about sweets all day everyday if I don't get this out of my system. I still may come in under 1400 cals for today because I probably won't eat anything else. This is really unhealthy...but oh well. :D

well I didn't have the Cinnabon....I had a quarter pounder with cheese, and french fries from McDonalds....it was beautiful. But anyways, I guess this was indeed a cheat day because I probably went over 1400 cals. But I still feel good.

Well the one cheat meal that I was supposed to have for the week turned into a cheat weekend. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday were HORRIBLE! :o I guess I went a little crazy. I've been working out like crazy so I'm hoping that my workouts minimized the damage. But that's in the past...I've learned from it. Tomorrow starts the beginning of a new week....a new, and much healthier week.

It happens to the best of us! I end up having two meals out this weekend... one was very out of my diet and other was okay just too many calories, but alas we shall overcome :D Keep it up.

Well my morning isn't starting off all that great. I left my oatmeal at home, so I'm eating poptarts. I know that this is far from healthy, but it was either poptarts, cookies or candy, or nothing...the vending machines at my job is all that I really have to choose from. So I chose poptarts. I'm going to have to start packing my lunch. I cannot afford to keep forgetting my oatmeal.

I have also decided to go two weeks without a cheat meal. I really need to make a habit of eating healthy. My next cheat meal won't be until Saturday, July 31st.

Monday was horrible. But I did really good yesterday. If I could just be consistent I'd reach my goals in no time. Also, I dumped my workout routine. I still workout and do cardio...I just don't have a routine anymore. I'm trying to focus on my nutrition and calorie intake right now. But I am indeed active everyday.
