I was checking the label on Crystal Lite the other day and it shows a 0 for all the nutrition info. I find my self every once in a while wanting some kind of flavored drink. I want to stick to water but since Crystal Lite shows nothing as far as calories or anything else, is it just like drinking water with a little nutra-sweet? Any thoughts or info about this stuff that I should watch out for will be greatly appreciated.

It contains Aspartame, which is sweeter than regular sugar and some say it might trick the body into thinking its getting real sugar and eventually the body will start to use it as such. I dont believe that to be true, but thats my opinion.

Studies were done on aspartame and has shown to be harmful and may have side effects. I believe that you can have it, but just dont overdo it. Drink mostly water, but use the crystal light as a treat once or twice a week if you must.

Studies were done on aspartame and has shown to be harmful and may have side effects. It's carcinogenic in vast quantities and has caused cancer in rats, but what hasn't? :)

Still, it's a good idea not to overdo the stuff.

I mixed some up last night and it has - using the mix I had - 5 calories per serving. It's good stuff, but as always water is best.

It keeps me sane. There are definitely times when you don't feel like chugging another bottle of water, thats where crystal lite comes in baby. Hell I think the lemonade tastes better than any real lemonade I've ever had.

It contains Aspartame,

Stop right there. From a nutritional point of view, Aspartame is one of the many artificial sweeteners you want to avoid at all costs.

mmmmm :o

i just had my first crystal light slurpee this week... heavenly!

i usually don't do the whole aspartame/flavored drink thing, but i think that something like that in moderation isn't a bad thing. just don't drink a gallon of it every day and you'll be fine.

There have been some studies that have come out recently (I'll look for them later if anyone is interseted in reading a source w/ this post...) that have shown that aspartame in large quantities can actually begin to be metabolized by your body...thus yoru soda/C-lite is no longer what the label claims. Your body is tricked by aspartame at first, but over time it builds a "tolerance" and then you can gain weight from it...I saw thi son the local news at first, and then looked it up a while back and thats what the study said as well, but I wouldn't worry too much about it..same deal w/ mercury poisening from eating too much tuna fish...can it happen? Sure. Is it going to if you don't eat tuna or c-lite for every meal from now to eternity? Probably not.
