Hi,
Recently bought an elliptical trainer for home use and was wondering what the best work out schedule is to use whilst trying to burn off as much fat as possible.
I'm 19 years old, 6 ft 1 tall (185 cm), 14 stone (196 pound, 88.9 kg) and just wanna lose around 2 stone of fat.
It's an Orbit Control Bremshey model with 5 pre-set programmes and the option to program your own manual settings.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks

Interval training for 20 mins....low resistence and high resistence every 1 mins or 30 sec
Or 45 mins moderate intenisty

I recently switched from doing 45 min. of running to a 20 min. HIIT session. Doing 1 minute intervals-i've continued to drop between 1/4 and 1/2" from my waist, while seemingly keeping more muscle than with a longer session.

If you are burning fat you just want to get into your heart rate into your fat burning zone for at least 20 minutes. You might want to consider whether you are lifting weights that day or not. If you are lifting and you still want to do cardio then go moderate b/c you want energy to focus on lifting. Some people won't even do cardio on lift days.
Alternately you can shorten your workout by training harder. As your intensity rises past your aerobic range then less of your energy will come from fat, but you are burning more calories and working your cardiovascular system. However, if you work too long and too hard then you will start to burn muscle which is counterproductive in the long run when trying to burn fat and keep it off. This is why some people on this forum advocate HIIT training and some don't. Also, you will note by reading all over this forum that the best time to do cardio is early morning before you have eaten. This way your body has no immediate carbs to use for energy so your body will go to your fat reserves. :gl:
