View Full Version : I had an AMAZING fruit experience today...
TheLemonSong Thu, July 1st, 2004, 02:41 AM I was near my fav. organic grocery today and I just couldn't resist getting a little bit of fruit...I'm usually pretty conservative about my fruit intake, but I decided to splurge (not a cheat, the total was like 150 or less calories, and about 25 carbs...but not the best ever either)...
I had (all organic):
One peach
One Apricot (I wish I'd eatin' 20)
The first plum i've had in about 10 years!
and TWO DATES!!!
I WANT TO BE BURIED IN DATES AND FORCED TO EAT MY WAY OUT!!! GOOD GAWD!!!! I'm salivating right now (literally) just thinking about how tasty my fruit extravaganza was! I wish I could do this everyday....
guava Thu, July 1st, 2004, 04:14 AM Dates must be one of the sweetest fruits around. I'm very fond of a recipe I recently came across called Sugarless Bars. It's your typical loaf, but with NO sugar or sweetener. All the sweetness comes from dates and prunes.
I snack on dates once in a while, but only with almonds. They're too sweet on their own.
I'm eating my way through a huge watermelon right now, but I have two kids to help me out. :D

Envy me now. I DO do this every day. ;)

Dates would be perfect. They have a GI of 103, which makes them higher than dextrose which many people take to spike their blood sugar. The simple sugars from dates are glucose and would go right into your bloodsteam and be great with added protein. So yes, they would be great as part of a post workout snack.

I've been eating 2 sweet tart roles, but believe me, I want dates in my diet!
Musicguy Fri, July 2nd, 2004, 03:22 PM I love dates... I usually avoid them, because I don't like having to exercise control over them!
BTW, I think they're great with a pecan half stuffed inside.
