View Full Version : Critique My Meal Plan
Snugglepuff Fri, June 25th, 2004, 12:05 AM Hey guys, long-time lurker, first-time poster. Was hoping some of you can critique my meal plan. I'm trying to put on lean mass, since I'm frighteningly thin. So far, I've put on about 5 pounds in three weeks on a 5-day work-out split.
Anywho:
Meal 1: Fibre cereal with 0-2% milk, half a tomato, cottage cheese (half a cup, 2%).
Meal 2: Sandwich. Whole wheat bread with flax seeds. Usually 14% mozzarella. Sometimes a cold-cut (lean turkey/chicken pastrami). Sometimes I just opt for a sub from Subway (Ham, roast beef, turkey on brown bread with mustard). An apple, peach, or banana.
Meal 3: Can of tuna (100 grams). a tablespoon of peanut butter. A banana. Often I switch out the tuna for some whey with milk.
Meal 4: Some sort of meat (poultry, turkey, lean cuts of beef, fish once in a while). Brown rice or brown pasta. Steamed veggies. Sometimes salad with canola oil.
Meal 5: Post-workout Chocolate Whey mix with milk. Oatmeal. Two teaspoons of honey. A fruit of some sort.
Meal 6: Some cottage cheese right before I go to bed.
Like I said, I've gained about five pounds since I started threeish weeks ago. Still, I'd like to ensure that I'm maximizing my gains (and not putting on fat), so any advice is much appreciated.
Thanks!
Bean Sun, June 27th, 2004, 05:37 AM how tall are you? how old? how much do you weigh?
and what does your excercise plan look like?
Duckman Sun, June 27th, 2004, 10:08 AM I think you may be getting a bit too much fat, prolly around 25-30% instead of the recommended 20%.
Except for that, it's hard to tell before we know your stats. Also...meal three certainly have an interesting combination. Does it even taste good? :confused:
My idea of dieting is to eat stuff you like and that are good for you. The thought of tuna, banana and PB in one meal kinda makes me gag :p

Do you eat the same thing every day?
I think your diet sounds great, but I wouldn't be surprised if some people tell you that you are eating too much fruit. I scratched my head at meal three as well. Why not a can of tuna, half a container of plain yogurt, and red pepper?
Canola oil's not bad, but olive oil is better.

My stats (don't laugh): Male, 17, 5'7, 130. I think I'm a mixture between a mesamorph and an endomorph. My bodyfat is somewhere around 10-11%.
My exercise plan is a five-day split. Usually three exercises per muscle group with three-four sets per exercise of 4-8 reps:
Day 1 -> Chest/tris
Day 2 -> Legs
Day 3 -> Abs
Day 4 -> Back/Bis
Day 5 -> Shoulders

Too much fat? What should I trim down? I'd be loathe to stop eating my cheese sandwiches. Think making the switch to always using complete skim milk would do enough? Killing peanut butter?
Banana with peanut butter is a bloody Godsend and I just scarf down the tuna because it's the most readily available protein I've got. I really don't mind, I find it very edible. :D

Yogurt and a red pepper? Eww. :p Truthfully, meal three is my snack meal. Just something I used to eat when arriving home from school. It's stuck with me.
