View Full Version : Bras?
AoifeFey Tue, June 22nd, 2004, 11:46 AM My apologies if this is somewhat off topic, this seemed a good place to post this question...
i'm having difficulty finding decent bras, both for workout (tho that is easier) and for just everyday wear.
after having lost a decent amount of weight, obviously my bra size has gone down. my problem is at the moment i'm still cutting to reduce bf, so i'm ... less full than i would probably normally be. and this is a *huge* frustration, especially when bra shopping.
when i maintain for a bit, i wind up at a rather nicely solid 34B, but at the moment i'm in a fun limbo of too big for A, not big enough for B.
so, i am wondering if any of you ladies have had/known of similar problems. and, more importantly, have any recommendations for brand/type/etc.
the standard sport top/bra seems to be fine for workouts (at least when it comes to lifting), but is terribly unflattering when it comes to wearing it for normal use. (making me look about 14).
appreciative of all help,
Aoife
jRS Wed, June 23rd, 2004, 10:49 AM I (unfortunally) dont have your bra size, but I find Shock Absorber bras comfortable and nice - for training and everyday wear (just remember to wash them...). They are comfortable, nice, and when it comes to running you may use a Crop Top over it. They are very adjustable so if your between two sizes they will still fit pretty well.

i just spent the other day bra shopping, and tho i found a couple things acceptable, it was still almost 2 hours of annoying 'too big', 'too small', 'quad boobie', and 'gasp... i can't breathe'...
i'll give those a go if i can find them. :d_smile:
hmmm... i can't see how having little boobies is a good thing, but i guess if one were like a DD it might be a pain...
at least i have pec cleavage... it makes them seem bigger, without the annoying extra jiggle... ;)
kirby Fri, June 25th, 2004, 07:02 PM Yeah, sportsbras for everyday wear = bad news.
I'm a little smaller than you. 34A is okay. Sometimes though (probably just when I decide to buy bras while PMS-ing) I'm inbetween. That's when I've bought Playtex "thank goodness it fits" - they come in "nearly B".
Good luck!
Kirby

thank god there is someone else out there who understands!!! :D
i've gone from a 36B to a 32A over the course of the past 4 years in college, and i'm actually not upset about losing "boobage," it just sucks trying to find a bra. underwire and bras that are supposed to lift/separate/blah blah blah make me look like i have miniature torpedos on my neck.
the only bras i wear are pretty much from victoria's secret and they're the non-underwire kind. they don't make me look like a little girl, but i admit that they're not as sexy as a lot of other kinds. when express carried bras, i used to buy them there because they were really cute AND carried small sizes AND looked good under almost any kind of shirt, but of course, they stopped selling them last year.
it sucks, and i wish i could help more with your problem, but it seems like we all have these issues no matter what size we are. my mom actually had a breast reduction when i was in high school and went from DDD to a C, and after watching all that she went through with back pain and surgery and health problems, i'm definitely not too upset that i didn't get her "boob genes."

hahahahahaha! that statement is especially effective with your avatar staring me in the eyes all macho-like.
AoifeFey Tue, June 29th, 2004, 04:15 PM Torpedoes! you are not kidding! i mean, what gives?
yeah, i keep meaning to go to vicky's (i am a huge brand whore as it is) but everytime i get in there i'm so tired. talk about 80 million different things.... so after 5 or 6 i'm too tired to go on. and the "helpful" ladies are just a bit too helpful sometimes. never, from the time that i was a little girl to a big one to a little one again, ever, have they gotten my size correct with their "measurement".
ah well, methinks my next trip to vicky's will entail a lot of grunting and swearing. it's like the gym but it smells nice and is pink. :p
ya... my mom is pretty big, so are most women in my family. no idea how i ended up the mutant.
well, thanks.
the consolation that i am not the only one helps. :D

trainiac Sun, July 4th, 2004, 12:41 PM Believe it or not, the American Council on Exercise actually published a study where they rated a bunch of sports bras. They had big chested women run on a treadmill and see how muched their breasts bounced up and down with several different types of Sports Bras. Had I known about it beforehand, I'd have volunteered to help, but no such luck. Anyway, you can find it here
