Just wondering....I am think of changing my major from Sports Mgt/Journalism to Hotel Mgt. This will be my junior year coming up, and the cahirperson of the dept said its not too late and I have plenty of time. Just curious if anyone knows anything about the professions...as far as salaries and if anyone knows anyone in either of them and what they say about them. thanks.

I don't know much but I can tell you this:
Sports Management doesn't mean you can be an agent. Agents have to have law degrees because they deal with contracts, contract negociations, and representation. Also, hotel management has little to do with writing so if you're interested in journalism I don't know that I would recommend that...what are you really passionate about? what is it you REALLY want to do? That'll answer your question. (Hope this helps!)

Well....
I asked myself what I'd do if I had a million dollars (I got that idea from office space). The first thing that came ot mind was lift and travel. I dont really wanna do anything with Athletic Training becasue its hard, and same with Exercise Phys. Im not real passionate about writing, I just wanted that becasue someone told me it was good to have those skills when looking for a job.

Hotel Mgt...I had a 101 class for this and liked it. Worked at a restaraunt and hated it. So, the only things i wanna do is work at a a)hotel b)resort c) casino. Hotel would be my first choice.

Maybe you could do some hotel management stuff and work up to a further goal...
It sounds like you'd like to open a fitness resort :)! Or maybe do something in the travel agency business (there is MUCH more to travel agencies than just the agent..). Have you considered maybe looking for an internship with one of the internet travel sites or something like that? Maybe you could pursue both features and do something like personal training by night and travel agency work by day? In some states you don't need an ex.phys. degree to become a trainer.
www.acefitness.org is a great place to look for this kind of thing...in addition to having some really current journal articles about fitness, they also certify personal trainers (so you can see what is required for trainer certification). If the two things you'd do w/ a million bucks are lift and travel, see if you can combine them both...maybe there is a big hotel in Vegas or somewhere that needs someone to manage thier gym. Maybe you could do that? I'm sure some of the giant gyms in big cities have gym managers, and you'd probably do stuff like make sure equipment is up to date, moniter the usage of diff. equipment, handle employees, deal with injury reports, etc. etc. etc. That sound like tsomething that might work for you??
