My Stats: Male 35 years old 177.5 lbs 5'11'' Body Fat: about 13% Type of training I do: Mostly endurance running and triathlon. Right now I'm training to run the Pikes Peak Ascent: http://www.pikespeakmarathon.org/. I just ran the Garden of the Gods 10 miler this past weekend. My time was 1 hour 32 minutes so about a 9 minute mile pace. I'll be running a few other races this summer but the ultimate goal is to run the Pikes Peak Ascent in 3 hours and 30 minutes. Running: 4 days a week - about 20 miles total each week. Weight Training: I have some tendonitis in my shoulder so all lifting is put on hold for right now. Martial Arts: I attend a kung fu class twice a week. Swimming: About once or twice a week. This needs to become more regular. Cycling: Very little at this point. Goals: 1. Get my weight down to 170 with 9% body fat. 2. Run the Pikes Peak Ascent in 3:30. 3. Increase my swim and bike training enough to compete and finish in an Olympic distance triathlon. Initially began at ~230lbs and probably 25% BF% so i've made huge gains but my diet is preventing me from trimming down the rest of the body fat. I'll try to get some pics up here soon, but is anyone interested in an 8 week, really really strict diet/exercise plan? The diet is my huge problem but im much too lazy to figure out absolutely everything i eat and make a good plan. I need the motivation! If someone is interested iny making a diet plan with me, i'd probably be more interested in perfecting it;) As it is, im going to the gym about 5 days a week. let me know! It could be a competitive thing or more just a support thing. I'm open to ideas. Here are some stats: 24 year old male 6' tall 167 lb 11.2% bf according to my tanita scale (that seems a little low) Goals: I want to feel light and essential. I'd also like to get some visible abs. So my first goal is to lower my bodyfat to 7%. I'm planning to cut down with fairly strict dieting and then settle into a diet based on whole foods once I reach the mythical 7%. current physical activity lifting 3x per week. swiss ball exercise 2-3x per week light cardio 1-2x per week occasional skateboarding / bicycling sample schedule sun - back/biceps/rotator cuff mon - rest tues - swiss ball video wed - chest/shoulders/triceps/rotator cuff thurs - swiss ball video friday - legs sat - light cardio One of my main goals is to improve my posture and body mechanics. So I'll be doing a swiss ball video a few times a week and maybe some work on a balance board. Here's a photo to get a sense of where I'm at now. I'm willing to pair up with someone in a similar boat (though the two of us in the same boat would likely sink it). 34 male 6-foot-2, appr. 340 lbs. BF%??? (quite a lot, since I'm pretty obese) Waist--around 50 My goal is to achieve overall fitness; I haven't put any numbers on it, since I'm just starting and not very well-versed in the nomenclature. I also need to lose weight so my blood pressure will go down and my doctor can finally take me off of the BP medication (I've been on it for about three years). I probably need to get back to about a size 42 waist, and weigh in the neighborhood of 180-200 pounds (Maybe more--I've never been at an "ideal" weight, so I'm not sure what it's supposed to be). My plan consists of walking, weights, and a revolutionary change to a proper diet. I wouldn't mind getting "ripped" or whatever eventually, but for the time being, I'll settle for not being a big tub of goo. I'm on day two (6/30/04). Any takers? I did three weeks of weight training to get used to the lifting and get past some of the soreness. I'm following a beginner program I found in a book called "The Book of Muscle" by Ian King. I'm on a two day spilt (upper one day and lower the next). I workout 3 times a week. As long as you are gaining, joints feel good, and you don't feel overtrained keep doing what your doing. Ian king is very well respected trainer. I would keep doing what your doing. Below is an example mass workout. 4 heavy sets for 4-8 reps each. Wednesday (legs, abs) Heavy Squats, leg extension superset Seated Calve Raises, 4 strips sets Crunches (4 sets of 20) Friday (chest, shoulder, triceps, abs) Flat bench press, incline dumbbell flyes superset Shoulder press, side raises superset Tricep pushdowns Reverse incline leg raises (3 sets of 20) Sunday (back, biceps, abs) Wide grip pull-ups, latbar pulldown superset EZ bar bicep curl, incline dumbbell curls superset Crunches (4 sets of 20) This is a good program for skinny guys.
