View Full Version : Can someone explain what this is?
seeDerekNow Tue, June 8th, 2004, 03:33 AM That little dip between the waist and the hip...kinda near the pelvis. What is it? How do I get it? Is it muscle, bone, or what? Do you get it by training your abs or by having really low body fat?
Here is an example of what I'm talking about:
Toolish Tue, June 8th, 2004, 03:55 AM can't help you with what they are, but that pic is hte exact one i am using as a goal shape...I think it is muscle...but not sure how to get them (I have seen them refered to as money makers, or penis lines, due to where they point :D)
Krakerjak Tue, June 8th, 2004, 04:15 AM That is kinda scary.
I wouldn't want that. Way too prominant.
chicanerous Tue, June 8th, 2004, 11:17 AM I think it's a combination of having a low BF% (definitely less than 10% for that kind of definition, probably less than 8% depending on where you store fat), and very well developed lower abs, and more than usual developed obliques (obviously your entire ab section should be very developed). A tan will also help to increase contrast at the line.
I have the line, but mine isn't nearly as pronounced.
Snowie Tue, June 8th, 2004, 11:45 AM i have them...and my lower abs aint that strong...and my bf% aint that low (altho i must admit...i seem to be the only bloke that stores his fat in his legs/ass!)
i dont like it...im trying to get rid of them with stomach vacuums (dont know if that will work)

I'm speaking from the perspective that one builds them up from a low BF%, so that they are entirely muscle; you can most definitely have them without a low BF% but you can't have the definition or the "rock-hard" to the touch feel unless you've trained them or don't store fat in that area.
Stomach vacuums won't get rid of them.
PecMan Tue, June 8th, 2004, 01:05 PM I'm sure genetics has a lot to do with it too.
freelancer Tue, June 8th, 2004, 06:20 PM or penis lines, due to where they point :D)
lol, when i use to go to the mens health MB thats when i first saw that name, so funny.
Destiny Tue, June 8th, 2004, 07:03 PM I think it looks hot on guys! Although it does remind me a bit of a Ken Doll  :
jk0 Tue, June 8th, 2004, 08:09 PM its just a very defined pelvic/femur socket. all genetics.
seeDerekNow Tue, June 8th, 2004, 08:52 PM Thanks guys for the explanation. Even though I have a pretty low BF, I still don't have one those :d_confuse Then again, I do have wider than normal hips for a guy. Maybe that has something to do with it. Oh well.

greenehorn Mon, June 14th, 2004, 05:39 PM I've actually just noticed a dip like that in the past week or so (although nowhere near that pronounced), and I've only been training / eating low fat for like three weeks. I'm naturally pretty slender, but still have a pooch and love handles. I was kind of wondering about it myself, but chalked it up to the beginning of my midsection fat melting away. Interesting to know that it might be kind of unusual.
