Forget this getting six pack abs the hard way. (http://www.cleveland.com/living/plaindealer/index.ssf?/base/living/1084023007199300.xml) I'm going to do this, from a story linked on fark.

A Stitch In Time Saves Six-Pack

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (Wireless Flash) -- Beach-goers who want to turn their flab into fab have a new surgical option that gives them six-pack abs.

Dr. Anthony Griffin, who performed the Brazilian Butt Lift on the TV program "Extreme Makeover," has created a Six-Pack Tummy Tuck procedure that gets rid of the fat and skin and tightens the abdominal muscles.

During a normal tummy tuck, the skin is pulled down like a shade, but Dr. Griffin's procedure rolls the skin up on the sides like a fitted shirt.

Then the abdominal muscles are sewn together to bring them forward like a pumped-up six-pack.

Dr. Griffin claims it "looks like you've done 1000 situps."

Very few men request the procedure, but he says at least three to four times a week women inquire about the surgery to restore their figures to what they were "B.C." -- before children.

Nice abs don't come cheap. The procedure, including operating room and anesthesia, can cost between $10,000 and $15,000.

So is the doctor proclaiming that if you do 1000 situps you'll get similiar results ;) Hell of a lot cheaper.

Quote excerpt from the original article: "...and diet must consist of foods low in fats and carbohydrates."

So to get abs, eat mostly protein.

That article is littered with bad advice.

Mihevic says men and women should consume no more than 50 grams of complex carbohydrates daily. He says men should eat no more than 60 grams and women 35 grams of fat a day.
50 grams?! So if you're on a 2,000 calorie diet, carbs make up 10% of your diet and fat makes up 27% percent -- i.e., your diet should be above 60% protein. If you're a woman, even higher.

They don't even mention that getting a six pack requires your bodyfat to be low.

Yeah, but part of the "reward" of having real ones is knowing (and everyone else realizing) that you've got the discipline to accomplish something that most people give up on because it's HARD to do.

It's only enviable 'cause it's hard to accomplish.

At least with a boob job, you're correcting something that is mostly genetic. It's not an excuse because you didn't diet right, or something...

6 pac abs are within most folks' reach, if they're disciplined enough.

OK, I'll get off my soap box now. :D

From the sounds of it, its just a six pack in appearance. Would there be any strength in those muscles, or is it completely cosmetic? I think with even a fraction of that money you could get in a good program and get the 6 pack for real. People are always looking for a quick fix...
