Sure you can do it without supplements, but if you can afford them I recommend the following: 1. A good muti-vitamin 2. 400 mg of E, 500mg of C, 200mg of Niacin after breakfast and the evening meal. 3. 12 oz whey protein drink in morning and afternoon. 4. Creatine only for bulking. taffer Mon, June 7th, 2004, 06:57 AM yeah you can do it without supplements, but they sure help alot personally i only take 2 supplements, a multi and whey, and i only use them once a day multi in the morning with my breakfast, and the whey PWO in the case of post-workout whey is probly better than any natural food, simply because of its mixability, you can make shakes with it, its concentrated, and it tastes great too :) Skoorb Mon, June 7th, 2004, 10:58 AM Heh I hardly even consider a multi-vit and whey to be supplements, though I suppose they are. They're all I take these days, besides creatine on occasion when I want to fill out my muscles a bit. To answer the original question yeah you can do it without supplementation. Just make sure that protein intake is sufficient and weight training is frequent enough. If you are going super-hardcore on the weight loss with very low calories and a lot of cardio it will become increasingly difficult not to lose some muscle. trainiac Mon, June 7th, 2004, 11:05 AM You can do it without supplements. Most supplements are a waste of money anyway (my opinion). I recommend making sure you get a steady stream of protein. 30-40 grams every four hours or so. If you can do this through food, great. If not, then you do need a protein supplement. If the body needs protein and there's none circulating in the bloodstream, then it will cannibalize muscle tissue to get what it needs. So make sure it's always there. Also, lify very heavy, and don't do too much cardio. ---Trainiac! http://www.clintphillips.com |
