Does anybody else get slightly nauseous while working out? I've noticed this feeling several times. I was wondering if this is normal and what causes it?
I don't starve myself before a workout and I don't eat right before one either.
Like I said it's very slight, but noticeable.

I have this periodically....usually when I have too much food or water, or the wrong kind, too close to a workout. I think it really depends (at least for me) on the kind of food I have before I work out. For example, if I have a shake before working I, I generally feel fine. If I have a burger or something heavy....even if I wait 2 hours....I can feel a little sick.

I have puked a couple times during my leg workout. It is usually when we go really heavy and fast. One of the things I I like to change my workout routine is to day 2 45s, an ez-curl bar, and a 25 pound plate. Slap the 45s on the ez-curl. Place the 25 poound plate about 10-150 feet away. Do walking lunges to the 25# plate and then do leap frogs back to the start. Usually hit this for 3-4 sets.

That is usually enough to make me puke.

I found that eating a complex carb like oatmeal 1-1.5hrs before lifting eliminated the dizziness and nausea I used to get, esp. after squats, followed by the usual PWO shake of whey, dex, creatine.

I usually workout first thing in the morning without eating before hand. I know many might criticize this, but due to my schedule with work and family, either I do it that way or I don't workout at all.

Anyway, to make sure I have some energy for my workouts, I will eat a lot of cottage cheese before I go to bed. That way, I don't wake up starving. I usually don't have any problems with lack of energy or nausia during my workouts...except once when I went to bed hungry and hit the legs hard the next day. I was wiped. I came home about ready to colapse, and when I tried to drink my PWO shake I just about puked. I doubled over in pain on the kitchen floor. After I laid there for a few minutes waiting for my stomach to get used to have a little bit of food and uncramp I was able to slowly finish the rest and I started feeling better.

I've had this a couple of times, usually when I do legs or when I start a phase of circuits and it's a particularly grueling circuit workout. It's basically from working yourself to the bone and using up all your energy stores. I find that eating some cottage cheese or a protein shake prior to working out (about 1-2 hrs) solves the problem. Also a PWO shake right afterwards will fix you up right too.
