Is there any sort of limit I should keep to the veg I eat in every meal?

3 Meals a day I eat a LOT of Brussels sprouts and Cauliflower, with a protein source aswell (Fish chicken turkey steak, either). Should I limit the veg portions?

I know I ask some stupid questions ;) But this one I'm not sure about, I've heard you shouldn't get too full while eating, but veg is low in calories and so on.

well, eating veggies to fill me up seems to work just fine for my cutting. ill eat a can of tunna, but im still hungry, so ill make some spinach. spinach has 18 kcals per 100 g, and 300 grams is a LOT, so i just down the stuff whenever i need a full stomach.

it has 1.4 grams carbs and 2.3 grams protein per 100 grams as well.. so its a really good staple to have..

i wouldn't think so, you eat a truckload of vegies and barely make a difference to your calorie intake.

I've been eating about 5 cups of greenbeans with my dinner. I don't know why, but all of a sudden I can't get enough of the stuff.

It's fine, better to have the fiber too instead of NOT having it.

Just avoid corn/carrots/peas.

SwoleCat, I have noticed in your posts that you recommend avoiding corn/carrots/peas, any particular reason? I usually eat about a pound of baby carrots and two green bell peppers a week. Do you recommend any particular vegetables?

Someone mentioned on another post once that they count veggies in their diet, but they're a lot less precise with the measurement...I do the same...but think about it like this: 12 brussel sprouts is like 90 calories, so if you eat a TON of them it IS going to have an effect on your diet, even tho the macros and micros are in order and they're nutrient dense foods. Some veggies are high calories (as Swolecat mentioned, corn, peas, carrots to some degree..etc.) and you need to be more careful about them...I don't know about 5 CUPS! of green beans..did you count that in to your dietary plan? That could be a lot more calories than you expect...most people think of veggies as zero calories, but they're like any other food..gotta measure, gotta check the n-facts, yo!

Corn, Peas, and Carrots aren't as nutrient dense and they're higher calories per serving. Swolecat is a hardcore kinda guy, so he avoids anything that does produce maximum efficiency (am i right Swole?).
Maximum efficiency veggies are like: deep greens (collard, kale, spinach, etc.), brussel sprouts, broccoli.

love your vegies, i eat so many vegies!!!
every night i steam up, 300grams broccoli, 140grams white potato(for PWO), 400grams brussel sprouts and 160grams sweet potato

they do still have carbs in them, just that half of them are made up of fiber, but they still do have carbs and calories, so you still do have to count them, just you can eat tons of them
this article inspired my love of vegies more...

Are you serious, peas are out of the hardcore routine? damn.. the stats on the bag looked pretty good, but I guess they are too high on the GI scale eh (like corn and carrots)?

Carrots are actually my favorite veg, I love baby carrots and usually have them, so I'll be limiting them, but I guess I won't cut them out COMPLETELY.
Corn however I have no real instrest in, I rarely eat it. Most of my veg is green.

Taffer: That's an intresting article. I'll have a good read over it.

All vegetables are not created equal. Things like corn, carrots, and peas have more calories than lettuce or cucumbers. I stay away from starchy vegatables and eat the leafy and watery ones.

Swole...or anyone else for that matter:

What is your take on eating corn AND Beans (organic refried) together? Corn and Beans combined create a complete protien from what I have researched...I like to try to not get all my protein from meat only so I will often toss a can of corn and refried beans together and have a couple servings on whole tortillas as a dinner meal along with tomatos and a small salad. Obviously I do this within measure as I dont want to over do the starches.
